My LO often has really fussy evenings and doesn't go to sleep until around 11pm. It doesn't really bother me as she doesn't get up until 8:30ish in the morning, so I feel like I get a lie-in, which is nice, but it would be nice to get my evenings back one day!

I'm told that this is quite a common routine in the early days. So, if there is anyone out there whose LOs did this:

When did they start settling earlier?

Did they do it on their own, or did you actively try to bring their bedtime forward?

I will keep an eye on this thread as my LO is the same. I did try the bedtime routine earlier but she ending up crying/moaning and finally falling asleep at the usual time.

We were the same till 10 weeks when started bath bottle bed and put her upstairs at 7pm. It took about a week of us going up to her and shushing or just patting but she has slept from 7 ever since. Perseverance was the key x

Savannah went to bed between 10-11 pm for probably the first 3 or 4 months. As she got slightly more active and we got her into scheduled nap times we started to bring it forward by 15 minutes a night. We started putting her to bed at 9 at about 3 months but it just unsettled her so we just tried it bit by bit and she sort of gradulally let us know when she was ready for an earlier bed time by just accepting it.

It's one of those things that just takes time i think.

Lewis always goes down between 10-11 but last night nodded off at 9ish and I think he might have done the same tonight. I'm not interested in getting him into a bedtime I don't believe in it at this age. It helps I have to do the school run (or at least get up to see him off), so we have to get up in the morning.

You must beware though I did this with my oldest I didn't have a job or other commitments so at one point we just ended up staying up later and later until we were completely noctornul, and we didn't even have the internet for company back then it was big brother season 3 all night!!! In retrospect I'd get up at a set time if I didn't go to bed at a set time.

spoke too soon he's up and watching the apprentice lol

My LO is the same. We are doing a bed time routine starting at 8 but she has started to not sleep until 10. Not crying, just awake! She has been sleeping less in the day so I think she is overtired. She just won't nap!

My LO goes to bed at 7 now but it took us until he was around 11 weeks to get to that point. His bedtime started about 11 and got gradually earlier. We let him set the time rather than setting it for him and now do a proper bedtime routine starting at 6. He tends to wake about 6am with a dream feed at 11.30 which works well for us. X

We're just going with the flow, G used to go down nearer 11, recently it's more before 10, so I assume it will naturally get earlier. I'm like you in that it suits me that she has a lie in, in the morning.

I attempted to put her to bed nearer 8 the other night and she went nuts, but come 10pm she self settled.

It's not something I plan on worrying about at the moment, maybe a few months down the line if she's not done it herself. Xxx
