should i be putting ella to bed before midnight? at the min she has a bath at half 7, bottle at 8 then she stays awake until her last feed at between 11 and 12...she then wakes between 3 and 4am for a feed and gets up at around 8. i read posts about you guys having your lo's in bed by 7pm and i rly dunno how you manage it??

I'm exactly the same as you I don't put Phoebe in her moses basket until after her 11/12 o' clock feed. And her feeding times are pretty much the same as Ella's. I've been a bit worried I'm doing something wrong by not putting her down until then :/ xx

yeah thats exactly how i feel :( i know ella wouldnt settle any earlier shes wide awake after her bath for a good 2-4 hours!! x

Phoebe is the same, she's wide awake from about 7/8ish. At least I know phoebe isn't the only one then. Hope someone lets us know how they do it soon lol x

I was doing the same until I decided I needed a more strict routine for him. So I've started bath at seven ish then feed then bed, I try to have him in bed for 8 or half past at the latest and he's settling better. He will wake 4 hours later (Ie now) to be fed but is easier to put down again after. I don't know if it makes a great deal of difference or not now but I'm guessing it will as he gets older so may as well start somewhere?

This is all colic-permitting of course..... x

If you did put your baby's down earlier would you go to bed with them or just leave them in the room on their own?

At the moment Grace is in a similar routine to Ella. She has a feed before bed (she's having it now - OH is feeding her) then she'll drop off and wake up around 4am for a feed and then will sleep until 9-10am, usually later. The past two days she's been hard to settle so she's been falling asleep around 2/3am, waking up for a feed around 6am and then staying in bed until 12pm! We basically take Grace to bed when it's bedtime for us, which is around now if not a little earlier. Grace's moses basket is next to our bed, I'm not sure about leaving her on her own if we did start putting her to bed earlier? xxx

Cameron's cot is next to our bed. He goes in there on his own until we go to bed x

i settle my little girl to bed at 11-12 after her feed and sleeps all through until morning, i tryed putting her down at 7-8, she did sleep well but then started waking up in the night and not going back to sleep. Gonna keep her to her 11-12 routine until shes abit older as shes settled in the routine now & its the only chance i get a good nights sleep! x

Issac gets bathed, fed and bed between 8-9pm he sleeps through til about 3am then feed and up again about 6, then up for the day between 8-9am. I think the bar tires him out tho.

And he is left in his crib with monitor on until i go to bed at about 10.30-11.

I just tried it one night and it worked, i normally have to go in about 5mins of putting him down as he has spat his dummy out, but i wait until he if crying, leave the light off, put dummy in and rub his tummy then out the door x

Stanley has bath, bottle and then goes to bed at 9! I put him down awake in his cot and he falls asleep himself!! He is sometimes up at about 3-4 but sometimes not!! When Ella is awake for those 2-4 hrs is she being stimulated?? I find that when he has a bath, if I feed him after in the bedroom with minimal soft lighting he knows its bedtime!! Also, if you make all the daytime feeds in bright, noisy places, and nighttime ones in the dark then she will soon distinguish between night and day :-)

Girls, at the end of the day they are your babies, you do what you think your baby needs!! Xxx

I've been doing the same nighttime routine since Iona was about 4 weeks. She gets her bath at 6pm then a wee massage with the lights dim. Into her pyjamas, a cuddle and a story then her last feed. She usually goes down between 7-7.30pm. I then take the monitor downstairs and have dinner and go to bed about 9pm, sometimes 8pm!! She usually wakes between 3am and 5am for a feed then goes back down till around 7 am. We tried waking her around 10.30pm for another feed to see if this would help her to sleep through but she was really sleepy and hard to wake and still got up about 4am so it was pointless to wake her.

Until a few days ago we had lissy with us till after her 10pm feed but noticed she was very tired (ove stimulated and over tired) after the 630 feed and bath so have tried putting her to sleep a 730ish. This also means we will have our evening and is the time she would go to bed as she gets older so going to try to stick at it, especially as we want the day to start at 730 am. Its so difficult knowing wht to do, at the moment she screams when we wake her at 10 but not ready to drop this feed as she often sleeps through. We all do what we think Is right for us, it's very much trial and error!

i think its prob just a case of me having to man up and put her in her cot on her own until i go to bed, she is in a cot next to my bed but i normally go up with her after her last feed, im worried if i put her to bed around 8 she will be up around 3am and wont go back to sleep!! i think im going to have to gradually make it earlier because i dont think jumping straight in and putting her to bed 4 hours earlier on her own will help just yet! thanks for your advice :)

This is what we did until she was about four months then tried to bring it forward gradually. Were now at half 8 bedtime but there's no way I could have put her down that early for the first couple of months
