Hi everyone!
So had my first sweep on Friday 10th at 40+6 with another booked for Monday at 2. Got to Sunday and figured it hadnt worked but started having some pains at half 4 Sunday night and some show. Went for a nice bath and felt better so had a nap. Woke up at 10\11 with more pain so that was me up, it got to half 1 and I phoned the midwife for advice. Tried to nap for as bit but had to phone back at 5am because I was in lots of pain on my lower back. Midwife on call said she would meet me at the birthing unit at about half 5.
They had me sitting on the birthing ball and gave me paracetamol at 6am. Left me for an hour or so to relax a bit before they examined me, they did say they didn't think I was established and I wasn't, only 3cm but baby was back to back so that's why my back was so sore so gave menanothrr good sweep. They gave me a heat pack and suggested I went home to try and eat and rest for a wee while but to come back as soon as I thought I needed to.
Got home and went to bed, was quite sick and my back was killing me so got a hot water bottle. Couldn't eat at all, tried to sleep but the pain got so bad then I kept getting push urges and thought I had wet myself only to later find out it was my waters. At 12 I told Ross to phone the midwife back cause I couldn't take the pain anymore. So we drove back and my contractions went from 4 minutes to about 3 in the car.
Back at the hospital I threw myself straight on the bed eyes closed the entire time telling them I wanted pain relief, they asked what I wanted and I said pethidine so they had to examine me. Got the gas and air for that and got examined and no pethidine for me since I was fully dilated but thankfully babynhad turned a bit so not back to back anymore. The two midwives sat at each side of me examining and such as I made the most horrendous noises I'm sure haha! Then at 5 past 2 I had Karis! Time flew with the gas and air though it was the best.
Cannot believe I went from 3cm to 10cm in 6 hours with only 2 paracetamol. Amazed! I'll post a photo from my phone if I can.
