Mildly said:Can't cope with pain. Off to hospital!
Just got back from my appointment and have good news
I was put on the monitor thing, Oscar's heartbeat was fine and I was having contractions about every four minutes for about a minute each time. We were both fascinated by that machine and my personal best contraction measurement was 57 - no idea if that is really good or not as the midwife said that top of the scale is 130 and above
She then did an internal and I am 2cm dilatedso am in early labour yay! She did a sweep to get things moving further along and said she could also feel his head. She said the membranes were bulging and that it wouldn't take much for my waters to go but it isn't policy to break them just for the sake of things, even though she said she was tempted
I am now having even more gunky blood stuff which is disgusting
Oh and my Bishop's score is 8!
She has booked me in for an induction on Monday but said to us she doubts very much that we'll need it. So we asked her how long she thought and she said that providing I dilate 1cm an hour she thinks it will be around 11pm tonight that he'll arriveThe long and short of it is that she has sent us home as I am coping ok and is taking my notes straight to CDS. She also said that she was going to ring CDS later to see if we'd gone in which was very sweet of her
The slightly bumpy car ride home has increased the contractions by a bit so I'm going to have a bath in a bit and then try and get some rest. The contractions are getting more painful but I am coping at the moment (give me an hour and I'll probably be screaming for an epidural
). I think the thing that makes it bearable is that fact that I know after the peak, the pain will get less again and then disappear for a bit!
Anyway just wanted to update you all and thanks for your best wishes
Thought I'd better ring Central Delivery Suite to let them know that I am having period pain in waves of around 5-7 minutes each lasting for 30secs to a minute. I also let them know about my bloody show of yesterday and this morning. They said that it could be hours yet but have advised me to keep my appointment to discuss induction at 12.30 today but to bring my bag with me![]()
The pain does seem to be getting stronger so I have called OH to come home from work later and take me to the hospital as am not sure I should be driving. Think I shall go and have some toast, then take some paracetamol and have a bath just to check that I'm not getting my hopes up.
