This week there have been a couple of days where by about 4/5pm Isla gets in quite a state - crying and nothing seems to help. I think she is getting overtired and then can't just drop off as she really doesn't sleep well during the day. Today she only slept for 20 minutes this morning and then 30 minutes just after lunch.

She just won't settle during the day and will only go to sleep either on me or in her pram and then not for very long so I'm thinking that by late afternoon/early evening, she is then overtired.

I've just bought a swing and just put it together so we'll see what she thinks of that. I'm hoping she'll go off to sleep in that. If not, was thinking of getting her cotbed set up in her room (she's in with us at night in her moses basket and settles fine) and trying that during the day but I'm worried about doing that and putting her off the cotbed!

Any ideas?

Sounds like what Lilly has been going through and I have no idea what hers is about either. Yesterday was the worst, she didn't sleep for more than 45 mind all day and spent the rest of it screaming. I think babies must just have off days as today she has been a little angel, asleep all day for 5/6 hours at a time.

Don't you just wish that they could tell us what they wanted or what was wrong? LOL!

xx

Does sound exactly the same! Isla slept most of the day on Wednesday and then just tiny naps yesterday and today. Strange little things aren't they!?

Noa sleeps for hours daytime but comming 6ish he winges a little cuz hes so tired n i normally just lay him down on his playmat and he sort of keep winging- with his eyes closed- half asleep for about 10 min then he sleeps. If i hold him, or interupt with him, he takes alot longer to fall asleep. i must say tho, he sleeps so much better since he found his thumb x

NOTHING beats the pram + fresh air tho, he sleeps there for hours if i take him out foor a little while.

Noa sleeps around 18-19 hours a day

yeah evelina i have been out in my pram for a majority of the day and my little one has been asleep for ages! and she slept for most of the trip. excellent :) and her swing is great for during the day napping or just general chill time x

Drake used to be the same till I started Reading his tiredness signs. After an hour I look out for them, normally after 1 1/2 hours he's tired and will have a sleep wether it would be 30 minutes or 2 hours..depends on what he had previously. In the early days I used to misread the signs and he'd get overtired and grumpy and just wouldn't go to sleep but he's much better now!

I find I have to put Lizzie down even when she looks wide awake to me - she seems to bypass normal 'tired' signs and go straight to overtired! I let her stay awake for 2-3 hours and then put her down no matter what. The first few times she had to cry for a bit but now she is asleep within 15 minutes with just a bit of grumbling :) It was really hard leaving her to cry though!
