:) January 2018 Mummy's thread

Alipops, although I'm having all of maternity, my dates are the same. I'm going to try and go til end of school term and start maternity 4th Jan and then go back a few days before October half term :)

It's worth doing isn't in Karen for us teacher folk?

I'm not sure how easy it'll be to hold out until 19th December - but I managed to hold out until 20th July with Zachary, he then arrived 3 weeks into the summer hols, 17 days early - so that kind of ruined my plan to get 6 weeks full pay and start maternity leave on 31st August! haha.

I am worried about being unable to last until xmas as this pregnancy is harder than my last and I finished earlier last time!! I do 4 days a week now and as I'm a student mentor I'm hoping for a student to reduce the planning and marking during that term!!

Almost halfway there now lol hardly put on any weight and still only a little bump but I can feel her moving inside and outside now so I know she's fine :)

I'm struggling at work already :( my pelvic pain is getting the better of me and carpal tunnel notched up a gear after my cpr training yesterday. I'm hoping mid December for mat leave as I have a student from September to 8th December. Hopefully she'll be great and lighten the load. The hour drive to and from work just makes it tougher.
I'm hoping to officially have the full year mat leave and if all continues to go well with my husbands business then I might be able to join the business rather than go back. The proverbial is hitting the fan right now so it feels like the best option! It's not what I trained for :(

Anyone else suffering siatica like pain? Also got acid and pressure upwards and downwards if that makes any sense lol x

carly mines 10:30.. eeek!! :) so excited. And yes I have sciatica, I've had it in all my pregnancies, just different severities depending on how I carried. I really struggled with my 3rd boy as he was really low and tucked right on my back. Delivered him and my first back to back too. :( I have started with it again, down my right side , bum cheek, down the leg. It's awful. Hope it doesn't get too bad for you, do mention it to midwife though.

Good luck with scan Mel let us know :)

No sciatic pain but hip and lower back pain plus the acid that comes from no where and makes me puke  insomnia has hit with a vengeance tho which I'm not thrilled about

Yup sciatic type pain here too down my right side. The physio I sawsaid broad ligament pain is very similar to sciatica.

Ive been trying to do pregnancy friendly stretches to try and ease the pain, but nothing seems to be working :(

Scan went well, baby was in a very relaxed position. :) ankles crossed over and hands by face, opening and closing mouth, just looked amazing, was so surreal! Funny thing was every side she went to baby was looking right at us, so my OH jokes its a girl because she must love selfies like mummy! Haha. I'll post pic shortly xx

Oh and I have an anterior placenta like I suspected .. :/

Carly I'm afraid the stretching doesnt really work for me either. I'm hoping to start pilates again with my old instructor. More just to remain mobile and stay off painkillers as much as I can. Are you in touch with a physio?

Sugar do you see the scan pic like your others? My boys had very different head shapes!

Hi all,

Scan went well this afternoon and we are having another boy- so excited to have two little boys!

The scan seemed long (but i loved every minute) sure it was over 30 minutes. I was just commenting on how he seemed more cooperative than his brother on scans and after a short while she said he might be more like his brother than you think... She had me hip shaking, bum bashing on table, coughing, going to the toilet, changing bed angle but this time we got it all measurments and organs etc checked in one scan!

Had a good giggle, i had no choice in finding out gender unless i didn't look at the screen... It was repeatedly very obvious.

Sadly my son fell asleep on the way there so my husband stayed in car with him and missed out but the lady was sooo lovely and gave me 10 printouts including a closeup of him yawning. Tbh dont think my son could have sat that long so it was maybe for the best.

Sugar and Mel, glad your scans went well :) mine went well too. Baby is measuring well and she said everything she needed to check was spot on. Only thing was baby was face planting the bottom of my womb so I had to go for a little walk and a jump around to get him to shift  he's definitely still a he which is good else id have a lot of shopping to take back! Haha xx

Huge congrats on a blue bundle of handsomeness Mel! Our little boy was the same when we had 20 week scan first time - bits out all over the place - definitely can't mistake a boy, haha. Still makes me giggle when I think about it.

We had a similar 20 week scan experience in that, I was all over the place on the bed, but we got there in the end with the measurements and eventually baby played the game - I think she's going to be a Diva!! It was really lovely to have a longer scan without what seemed like time pressure at the 12 week scan. Lady really explained what each blob on the screen was! Baby even did similar poses to what Zachary did - I have a photo that's literally identical of them posing with their hand in their mouth.

In terms of movement, i'm still not feeling a great deal. From what I understand my placenta is at the front, but clear of the exit thankfully. I'm feeling very tiny wiggles or bubbles but all very random and it feels like she's buried quite far down in there still. Hopefully, i'll feel more over the next few weeks. I'm sure I was feeling stronger movements with Zac at this point, but that might just be wishful thinking, looking back 3 years ago!

Had some more bleeding today so think it'll be another day at the hospital for me 😢

Congrats on your scans, lovely experiences to remember forever xx

Hi everyone not been on for a while! My scan went well however had to go back for a repeat one due to baby being in a difficult position to get all the measurements they needed! I also found out that I'm having another boy!! Feeling movement everyday now which is fab and reassuring that baby is growing stronger x

Karen hope your ok!

All these scans are so exciting! Have mine on Friday so looking forward to it but a little anxious as haven't felt a whole lot in the way of movement yet

All updated on sexes ladies hope everyone is enjoying the second trimester before we all get huge and swollen and the horrible third trimester starts

Thank you all! Very excited to have two boys :). And yes i also felt this was a more relaxed scan and the lady was so informative and lovely

congrats to everyone else on their scans ! Anymore coming up??

I hope this works, its supposed to be the closeup scan of him yawning.

Is everyone well?

I'm completely knackered - I shall blame the lovely weather! I've been on a mission - washing anything and everything, even defrosted the freezer today. haha.

Only 1 week of the summer hols left for me, boohoo. Off to work tomorrow as got a meeting and then lots of jobs I would like to get done while there will be hardly anyone in the building. I do love my job, and I like being busy, but I am worried about the long hours, 45 min drive there and back and the constant demands/stress. Especially, as this pregnancy i'm coming home to a toddler rather than when I was pregnant with Zac, and was coming home to just OH.
I work full-time, OH works 4 days a week - so I shall be leaving him a detailed list of jobs on his day off as Zac will be at pre-school 9am-3pm on that day.

Alipops x
