:) January 2018 Mummy's thread

Hi all hope everyone is okay. I am starting to feel abit more human and have enjoyed listening to baby's heartbeat on my Doppler! Can't wait to start feeling proper movements! My 20 week scan is the 17th August so not long until I find out what sex im having! Iv also been suffering from headaches and a lot of bloating/trapped wind!!!

Carly I haven't been suffering with heachaches as such, just that one incident with the flashing lights etc in eyes. So I'll mention it. I'm ok now. The itching is driving me mad though, I know that can be something so I'll mention that too! Sorry you're suffering , I wouldn't have thought they'd want you to keep taking parecatmol so I'd mention it again to your midwife. Maybe it's something to do with blood pressure or something. Oh and water infections suck :( yes I've been having ligament pains around my hips, especially in certain positions or if I roll over in the night.

That's 3 Of us with a scan on the 25th Aug! :)

Mel wouldn't worry about your weight, it's surprising how much you lose when baby is here. And my OH would rather have a surprise it's me who is torn between finding out the gender! But I think we'll stay team yellow. And my little one is the same, he's kicked me so many times in the belly while changing his nappy, and when we went swimming, but I know baby is well cushioned in there.

Hayley oh that's exciting not long for you! Any feelings on what you're having? :) oh and trapped wind is definitely a 'thing'! hideous!

Louisa yes worrying is all part of pregnancy... and it never actually ends! I worry about silly things like who's going to sort the kids when I'm in hospital - which is actually quite practical, but then worrying about something happening while we're on holiday in August. Or I'm constantly having dreams about something happening to the children and I just want to cry! :( these hormones send our minds crazy!

How is everyone today?

Sounds like you've had a Migraine. Apparently they're common too! i had one Monday before last, and ever since then almost daily headaches. I know i did say that about the Paracetamol, but they didn't seem overly concerned. I will mention it again if it carries on x

How is everyone today? I am 17 weeks today - can't believe it!
Anyway, since yesterday lunch I've been suffering with horrific heartburn. Does anyone know if it's safe to take anything for it? I've never ever had heartburn before in any of my other 3 pregnancies or when I'm not pregnant

Tums or quickeze is fine to take it's just calcium to neutralize the acid and I've been on panadol the entire pregnancy dr said it's fine and about tho only painkiller I can take lol

I get heartburn it's awful. I get it without being pregnant though. :/ 17 weeks wow! Can't believe how much faster time is going now and how close we are getting to the 20 week scans!

I know, I'm having my 20 weeks scan at 18+6 as I go on holiday. 2 weeks yesterday. Cannot believe how quick it's going. Doesn't feel like it was April when I first got my BFP!

They usually recommend Gaviscon for heartburn but it doesn't always work for some ladies. My mum took it during her pregnancies but it never seemed to work for her. So you could try it and see if it works for you Louisa but if not try some of the others that ladies recommended xx

Afternoon Ladies,

I'm here lurking - I do read everyday but don't always post.

I'm 16 weeks, 1 day today - tomorrow we are having our early private gender scan. I'm so nervous! I've stopped browsing girls stuff online now in case I jinx myself, although it's probably too late for that! None of our family know we're finding out tomorrow, so looking forward to surprising them with the news.

I saw the midwife on Tuesday, she's suggested I continue on the anti-sickness meds for a few more weeks, as they've helped me so much I almost feel human again. She also listened to baby's heartbeat, which I was surprised at as not all midwife's do this in case they can't find it - but it was there galloping away. She thinks it's a girl based on the heart beat - again, really not good for me as i'm believing anything!! haha.

Our 20 week scan is on 23rd August - couldn't wait that long to find out the gender, especially as me and husband have 6 weeks off, so plenty of time to get organised but not if we had to wait until week 5 to find out the gender!

Are we supposed to be contacting our midwives to arrange appointments? Not sure where I'm at right now with all that.. Last time I spoke to my midwife I was 6 weeks pregnant. I've not heard anything from her at all or been told by my hospital that I need to book appointments with her at certain times into my pregnancy... So I'm kind of confused really. Do I need to contact her? Or should she be contacting me to arrange appointments to do with certain things? xx

Mariexo - you are meant to see the midwife once before your 12w scan (usually between 8-11 weeks) and then you're meant to have another appointment at 16 weeks. My midwife booked my 16w appointment last time I saw her. So might be worth giving her a call?

I had a booking appointment when I was 8 weeks but that wasn't with my midwife, some other woman had that appointment with me. I was led to believe that it was with the midwife but it wasn't. No one has told me I should be having appointments at certain times? I was never aware I was supposed to be having one at 16 weeks.. :wall2:

So far I've seen mw at 11 weeks for booking in app when she came to my house and 15 weeks at the local children's clinic for a routine app. She has booked me in to see her again at 26 weeks! I was quite shocked as I do recall seeing my mw more frequently the other 3 times but I'm probably getting confused with later on in pregnancy

Yes you should be seen every 4 weeks (including scans) and then it increases to every 2 weeks nearer the birth. I'd give them a call as it's important to be seen. Very surprising they haven't contacted you as should be making sure you are aware of appointments etc X

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I called my hospital this morning and advised I hadn't been told when I needed to see my midwife next. They've booked me in for 10th August so that's when I'll be going next.

Can't wait to find out the gender. 1 week and 1 day today!!!

Had my 16 week app today, went much more smoothly than with my daughter! Last time strep B showed up and every app I had high blood sugars even when I cut sugar out! This time - no problems! Convincing myself here that it much be a boy then haha! X

Evening All,

SO excited to be able to tell you all that we're having a GIRL!
We had an early gender scan today, which was fantastic and they confidently said we're expecting a baby girl.
Our families and us are over the moon.

Mystery could you update me on the first page with a pink stork and also, I forgot to mention my due date is now 10th January.
