*January 2018 mummies - tri 3!*

I haven’t had any growth scans lol they are just going my measurements of my fundal height which is perfectly on track with my due date

Hi ladies! How are we all feeling? Tired & sore I imagine!!!!!

I had my midwife appt yesterday at 34+5. Baby 3/5 engaged, my sister said this is early (she's had 3 kids) but I've looked it up and I don't think it necessarily is? It doesn't seem to mean they will become fully engaged any sooner. Its my first baby so I think it just means they are less likely to become free again?

Bump measured at 35 weeks, and she said I had great core muscles (from all the hyperemesis vomiting haha - a silver lining!!) My blood pressure was finally up to normal human levels but its been elevated because my husband is recovering from throat surgery and we had to rush to A&E a few nights ago when blood started pouring from his mouth! He's still in hospital being monitored and has had several bleeds since so its all been a bit stressful!!!

On the upside baby has excellent heart rate and them having moved so far down has meant I've been feeling much better lately and I've even been hungry for the first time! Silver linings

My baby has decided to have a turn I think. He was head down, but now I'm so bloody uncomfortable across the middle and his movements have changed.

Hope your hubby is better soon! Sounds like a stressful week x

Thank you! Just found out Hubby is getting to come home later today once he gets all the meds made up to help prevent more bleeding. But he's lost a good couple of pints over the last 2-3 days so he's still got quite a bit of recovery to go.

Sorry to hear about you being in so much discomfort! I've had a lot of pain around the middle too, like a really tight stretching pain and hard bump but constantly not just like braxton hicks (unless they're just back to back?) I think its their position. Last week they had their back to mine but head down so they were basically knees against my front really pushing out. I think they're now bum out which is still sore but less so. I honestly felt last week like Ripley and the alien was going to burst out any moment haha. Not long to go ladies!! I'm hoping to be a bit early just so I can bend over and twist round and pick up something I've dropped without feeling like I'm about to die hahaha.

We've got the cot, pram, got my Scottish baby box, have washed all their everything, got tons of clothes up to age 2 off my sis, got all their cloth nappy stuff. Just need the actual baby now! Need to finish packing my hospital bag. I've packed theirs but not mine yet

So organised! Would maybe take more nappies than 8 in case you are in for a few days as they can go through 8 in one day, lol! Not thought about bags and my section should be in 3 weeks...I need to get organised as nothing washed, down from loft or sorted in any way 🙈. I wont bother with wipes or creams for baby from experience, as I’ll only use cotton wool and water for the first week. Then move onto water wipes for a while. Will prob take a few more sleepsuits (6) as will likely be in 2 days and they can go through a few! Not bothering with a snowsuit as they can’t wear them in the car so will just take a cardigan and fleecy blanket my friend has knitted to keep her warm when we go home.

Well I’ll definitely be giving birth in January after my appointment today. Due date was 1st Feb / 31st January but my options are induction at 37 weeks or c section at 39 weeks.

I need to sort myself out! I have no nursery, next to no clothes, no hospital bag! Yikes..

Oh boy Torino good luck hun lol sounds like you have a busy month ahead getting sorted lol

Morning All,

Well, I feel terrible. Really dodgy stomach and feeling sick - it’s woke me up! Already had a few nasty trips to toilet and one sick episode. I hope it’s a bug or something as I’m only 35 +5 so doubt it’s the start of anything. I hate being poorly at the best of times let alone when I’m the size of a whale!

TORina - how come they’re offering you induction or c-section? Least you can plan around that.

Alipops x

Aww home straight alipops! Not long now..

So I’ve had a rather complicated pregnancy for various reasons, low pappA at 12 week screening which meant growth scans at 28 and 32 weeks and the revelation that my baby is enormous  which I sort of knew would be given my daughter was on the large side. My ‘natural’ delivery with her ended up with a shoulder dystocia which I want to avoid so hence my options on get it out early or c section! Just need to decide.. eviction in 4 weeks is very tempting though!!

Ooo exciting Torino, least you have something to work towards. Ali- I’m feeling really lousy and irritable, and especially last night the pain / pressure in my lower back was unbearable . I’ve been losing my plug for a couple of weeks now, I know things are getting geared up. I’m just wondering how soon?! Like you I’m only 35 weeks, but if things stay as they are I know it won’t be long. This is how I felt before labour kicked in , in the past. Also dull cramps feeling sick / loss off appetite. We shall see! We’re organised for baby so not worried , but would be so stressful before Christmas for us. As we already have 4! :)
Carly sounds organised , I’ve never taken a jug, and I actually always pack sudocrem but don’t think I’ve used it that early. Never heard of the Vaseline. There will be lots of advice out there and things like don’t use this or that, but just do what you think. I’ve used baby wipes and they’re fine. Usually Johnson’s sensitive. But I’ve actually bought aveeno ones this time.

We’ve had a lot of scans and another next week. Baby is about 6lb at the moment so all sounds good. I know these are all just estimates and they can be off so wouldn’t read too much into it. Mine have been to check placenta function / flow mainly.

Bags sound organised girls. If you have someone to bring stuff in for you if you have to stay longer then just take essentials for one day? Saves the big bag. I know I’ll be in for 3 so trying to pack enough. Oh , Pack plenty of bibs too! And I’m taking wipes for baby, also packed cotton balls, mainly for a little wash as baby will need a freshen! :) usual stuff like maternity notes , chargers and money etc. Haven’t actually packed clothes to come home in for myself. But it’ll just be leggings and jumper (or pjs!) ha ! so it’ll be fine. :)

Carly, you are so organised! I had my baby shower on Saturday and had lots of lovely gifts but so far everything is just piled up in the nursery amongst all the Christmas presents!

Have bought everything for my hospital bag though and most things for baby. Might just need to grab a couple more vests and things. But not washed anything! Think am going to wait another two weeks and see if cotbed and chest of drawers get reduced after Christmas and if not just order then. Then I will do all the washing!

Christmas is taking over at the moment and think I just want some time to enjoy it as it's my favourite time of the year. Then once it's over I will sort it all out! I hope I am not being disorganised - there's just so much going on at the moment and I am still working full time. Finished my Christmas shopping a week ago though so that's good!

Thanks Sugar,

So, I literally had the runs all day from 6am until 9:30pm yesterday - otherwise I felt fine in myself by lunchtime. I'm convinced it's baby related as today i'm fine, and i'm confident she's moved further down, wouldn't be surprised as there's obviously enough room now after such loose bowels!
Don't want to gross anyone out but I also feel like my foof area is swollen, particularly when I wipe after a wee - this is making me think I need to wee more than I actually do.
I'm 36 weeks tomorrow, so midwife appointment in the morning. I had Zac at 37+4 so it's possible that my body is getting ready.
I hope i'm not imagining things -but i've had what I reckon feels like period cramps, and that wierd feeling I get when i'm expecting my period. Again, perhaps i'm just going a bit bonkers?!

Hi all,

You are still all sounding extremely organised. I've had a day of trying to sort a few things since other than swapping the car I had done NOTHING. So i went shopping for hospital bag toiletries (why do miniatures cost more than full size?!) and found a few nursing clothes on Amazon some of which I'll pack. We also got another set of drawers and a miniature bookcase for our furniture shop nursery as there will be two kids in there now.

I refused to wash clothes until i got the drawers so i'm now left without an excuse and will make a start when i get through the day to day washing. I'm frightened that I'll find out we have almost NO newborn stuff after I gave so much away - i think the colossal bag of mixed clothes I have is actually mostly bigger sizes but I love plain white baby-grows etc so Asda/Tesco is my friend.

I use a cabin bag for myself and a changing bag for baby but I'll need one for my toddler also - so a bit stuck for bags but refusing to buy another... I'll figure something out!

Don't think I packed anything for my husband last time unless I added a few things to my bag ...which makes me sound mean! I probably won't this time either (anticipating another quick labour). The hospital sells everything we could need and we only live about 25 minutes away, but last time he walked in, stood next to me holding my hand/arm and gave me water until I gave birth and I think he had a nap while they finished the medical bits and pieces then he buttered my toast and went home to sleep.

My midwife told me to get a move on and get my bag packed, plenty time for that I told her. So I've looked out a bag so far....
I also had a consultant appointment yesterday. They are happy with baby's growth and I don't need to go back. But I did mention feeling rubbish at times, with restless legs and feeling like I might pass out. So they took more bloods which have shown I've become anaemic. I'll hopefully pick up the prescription on Friday. Never experienced it in previous pregnancies!

Had a bit of an emotional meltdown this morning. I feel like i dont know anything about babies! I also decided id get his crib ready in our room this weekend, with Christmas etc i want to get things ready just in case. Again, this had caused me to get upset casue i dont know what bedding to put him in when we bring him home :( I have a moses basket for naps down stairs and i have a next to me style crib for night time. It's going to be so cold in the night come January. I am not keen on them sleeping bags. I know you are told cellular blankets, but i wake up cold with a duvet, so hes going to be freezing. Can any of you mummy's help me put my mind at rest :(

Carly - honestly, these worries are completely natural but you will soon get into the swing of it when he arrives.
When I had Zac it was summer time, so this time of year will be different for me, but when it got very cold when Zac was about 4 months old I used to put him in a vest, a baby grow and a cardigan at bedtime - with cellular blankets over him, and a knitted blanket one on the top! Then, I used to just check on him, to make sure he wasn't getting too warm.

I'm feeling crap again today - I went to bed early last night as felt sick, tummy was being dodgy again and my back was aching. The ache continues today and the pressure on my foof is unreal and it feels swollen - I really hope i'm not going to be feeling this rubbish over Christmas. I can't even be bothered to go out and about! Also feeling a bit emotional - can't really put my finger on exactly why, might just have to cry it out this afternoon while i'm on my own at home haha.

My midwife was poorly so I had a stand in one earlier in the week. When I tried to book another appointment for the end of next week - as my 38 week appt would be boxing day, so thought i'd try to get in before, they were completely fully booked so no midwife appointment for me until 2nd January - any issues i'll just have to traipse off to the maternity hospital. I have thought about perhaps ringing next week in case of cancellation as it makes me feel nervous about not having one until 2nd January as i'll be just about 39 weeks by then, assuming she doesn't make an appearance beforehand.

What do you think to this:

Swaddle, then a cellular blanket, then a cuddle blanket:

Carly - the fact you're worrying shows you'll be a good mum!! I know its hard at this point I keep thinking have I forgotten anything major they need?! It will work out - there's nothing you can't just get once they're here. If you're really worried about the cold get some spare blankets as you may just need to use a couple together.

Ladies I've felt rubbish again this week. Super dizzy and nauseous and my god I am SO SORE. Baby nuzzled further down yesterday and I now feel constantly like I'm about to shit myself and my foof also feels really swollen. I'm glad they're moving down but why is it they've moved down and yet they can still kick my ribs so hard. Its become very painful particularly in the last few days, they are really kicking me hard and I think its possibly just so sore because they've bruised my ribs now? I also feel like my belly button is going to tear open. I cannot wait to get this wee one out of me and watch them kick Daddy instead hahaha
