*January 2018 mummies - tri 3!*

Did midwife think baby may come early Alipops? Or can they not really tell?

She seems to think so - I had a growth scan today and baby is only a tiny bit above average so nothing to worry about there. She's firmly head down though!
There was also no glucose in my urine this afternoon - but i'm still to have my glucose test on Friday [3rd time lucky!].

However, I'm now starting to reconsider my maternity leave. I'm 34 weeks today and finding the 50 min drive there and back especially now baby is head down, plus rushing around for all these medical appointments, plus dealing with SEN teenagers quite taxing. My maternity cover has started, so that's rocking the boat as it's a new face and i'm finding I just can't keep up physically. However, i'm also conscious of finances, so i'm wondering if i've any hope of getting signed off by the docs for the last 2 weeks - then start maternity leave at 36 weeks, on 17th December.

I've never been off sick or been signed off, but I feel like i've dragged myself this far, I almost deserve 2 weeks signed off before I start maternity leave early at 36 weeks. Plus, depending on glucose results - I may have GD or they may treat me as if I have GD due to the glucose in urine being so regular.

What do you think girls? xx

Check out sickness leading up to maternity cause I know in some cases it can cause your maternity leave to kick in. Not sure of the terms. I've just reduced my hours cause I'm struggling come 2pm. I sit at a desk but it becomes unbearable by then. I suppose if it takes you 50 minutes though you would be even less willing to want to travel to be there less time x

Thanks Carly.

Well, i've taken the plunge and spoken to the doctor - got a sick note from tomorrow until 23rd December! However, i'm pretty confident, once I get to 36 weeks, maternity leave will be actioned - I reckon from 17th December, which is fine.
I'm hoping it's not going to cock up all our Shared Parental Leave stuff - I don't think it will, as I was having only 26 weeks of actual maternity leave, so still have some of that left over. Work are going to let me know.
But, in the grand scheme of things, i'm actually not bothered now - i'm so relieved to be finished and to be able to get organised/rest.

Currently, nil by mouth for my third GTT test tomorrow morning!

In my first pregnancy I had glucose in urine every single time. Had GD test which came back fine. In the end they decided that’s just how my body disposed of glucose!!! Weirdly, not had that problem this time.

I bet you are bless you, just reducing my hours helped with how I was feeling. Currently laying in bed contemplating today lol. Got iron tablets two days ago and the thought of putting it in my mouth is knocking me sick ahhh only two weeks left until I finish.

Having lots of niggles and starting to lose mucus, and increased braxton hicks which are really starting to hurt. I’m not convinced I’ll make the due date. Or Christmas - :/ !! Frantically trying to get organised - just incase! Hasn’t been easy with a house love. Hoping things settle down. . But being baby number 5, i recognise these warm up signs! :) argh! Glad you’re taking mat leave from now ali, much needed. Carly lying in bed some beds amazing.... although even that isn’t comfy right now either! :( xx

Thanks for your support girls with the maternity leave situation - it’s been quite a stressful week - growth scan, GTT test for third time & realising that I can’t manage work. I hate feeling like I let ppl down but I’m glad I’ve got the sick notes and am putting me & Baby first.

How exciting Sugar!
Everyone thinks my bundle is going to come before Xmas - I’m trying not to get my hopes up to be honestl - difficult when Zac was 17 days early.

Karen - the glucose test is grim, more so the third time. There was talk that if I pass that but continue with glucose in urine they may just class me as borderline Gestational Diabetes. As long as they don’t keep making me do the test I don’t mind. I never had any of this when I was pregnant with Zac.

I’m really looking forward to pottering in the week - OH at work, Zac at preschool- will be strange having some time to myself but I shall enjoy it. Also got a lot of nesting I want to get done and throwing out! Also, me & OH will have a child free day together on a Tuesday!

Zac is off for a sleep over tonight at my mother in laws, not something that normally happens so I’m a bit nervous but I’m sure he’ll be ok. We’re going out to the local pub in the village with my parents & Sister and her husband. Although I’m mostly looking forward to the sleep in on Sunday morning.

I can’t believe how quickly time is flying!!

I had my second growth scan today. Baby is head down and oh goodness don't I know it! And estimated weight today of 5lb 3oz! With another 6 weeks until edd and an average 1/2lb gain a week she'll likely be at least 8lbs just like our boys!!

Megs - Baby is head down here too and it's really uncomfortable - i'm 35 weeks today, can't imagine waddling around like this for another 4-5 weeks! Zachary came at 37+4 so i'm hoping she may well come early too. I'm even struggling to bend down and go upstairs - i've been having physio but now she's head down it's worse.

In other news, i've heard from work and they're very kindly going to start my maternity leave on 24th December when my sick note ends so i'm feeling very fortunate and a lot less worried. It's only a week earlier than the 31st December which i'd put down. If she comes before 24th December, then that's fine, as i've not wasted any maternity sat around.

I've literally just pottered this work, while being off. I feel like i've not achieved any great nesting or anything - going to pick this up next week and get some sorting done, especially while Zachary is at pre-school!

How is everyone else doing?

Baby is definitely head down here too. Got another 7 weeks to go! The pains in my pelvis are getting progressively worse, im low in iron, im breathless, waddling.. You name it ! i just cant wait to finish work and take it easy! x

Oh there's no mistaking that head down sensation is there!! Surprisingly my sciatic pain has eased though the last couple of days I can literally feel the back of my pelvis crunch when I walk or do stairs without my tubing rip on. What a horrible feeling, but not agony strangely?!
I'm off on carers leave today as our eldest is poorly with a virus. So just Thursday and Friday left to work then I'm done.
alipops that's really descent of your work, at least you'll be able to relax a bit now. Nesting is overrated!!
carly are you on iron? That must be extra tough!

Oh god why did I creep into this damn thread.

You women are suffering so much more than me and today I feel absolutely fed up at 32 weeks.

However my baby is measuring twice as big so the pressure is unreal but I havent dropped.

Today I also want to murder someone. I am an emotional wreck lol

JustTrying it sounds like you've come to the right place

Had my scan today.... baby measuring at 5.5lbs at 34 1/2 weeks but she's breach so hopefully she'll turn before due date!! Very uncomfortable around the ribs so must be her head nestling in there!! Finishing up work on Friday :-) can't wait to rest before baby arrives

Isn't that slightly big for 34.5 weeks?

Mine is measuring the same at 31 weeks!!!!!

I don't think so, they didn't seem worried anyway! Think they say half a lb weight gain each week at this stage so will be around the 8lb mark if they're right?

Just to correct . That measurement for me was wrong.

The ultrasound today confirmed baby is 4.10lb which is big also and puts me in 90 percentile so extra monitoring now.

I think we compare each other but forget these are meant to be individual anyway dependant on height/weight etc?

I'm.scared I will be close to 10lb but these are my fears !

Baby may not be that big, the ultrasound estimated weights are often way off so don’t panic too much!

Yeah i am on Pregaday - ferrous fumarate and folic acid. They're not very nice
Not too much longer now, hopefully! x

My measurements have been all over the place with my growth scans. Ill put the details but at one point I was estimating that by due date baby could be 9 to 10lb! From the recent scan it doesn't seem he is actually that big. It is really odd and confusing, I suppose last time I didnt have any svans past 20wk so I had no idea what weight he would be and he was 7lb5oz.

29wk 3lb 1oz
33wk 4lb 15oz
35wk 5lb 8oz

x
