It's Growing!!

So today I am on cd12 and stim day 11 after the disappointing scan on Friday I went back today following an increase in the stims! I now having a lining of 10mm and a follicle size of 12. I am hoping by Wednesday it will be good to go although I am slightly worried as the nurse said I have a reduced chance because the follicle is growing the side where the tube was removed. She said the other tube could pick it up though. I am feeling mixed emotions now, pleased it is working but worried the tube may not catch it!!

Hmm, that is good news about your lining etc but i would have thought that they'd abandon the follicle on the tubeless side and time the procedure based on when there is a ripe follicle on the ovary with the tube.

It is apparently true that the egg can get sucked down the other ovary's tube, but the chance of it happening is only about 15% which seems like a huge risk factor to me.

What size was the biggest follicle on the side with the tube? xx

How are you?

The follicle on my right side is only 7mm and so not that great , I am wondering if I do stims for a coupe more days it may grow. I have looked in to it online and think the chances of the other tube catching is 15% as you said, which is rubbish! They want to go ahead with the cycle though I did ask that today! I am currently on 1.25miu per day , I should have asked whether it would be worth increasing for last couple of days but completely forgot to ask. Xx

Yeah, going ahead with the cycle makes sense, but i really don't understand why they'd go for that follicle on the wrong side.

In fact, i think it's pure stupidity on their part considering all the effort you've already gone through.

I don't think 7mm on the other side is that bad but if you are definitely only going for another couple of days then i think that increasing your dosage makes sense.

I'm not sure they'd agree though as they don't seem to be using much common sense

I think you are right I want to go for 150miu for the last 2 days I think they are worried as they don't want to overstimulate but the fact I am on day 11 and only have one decent size one makes me think that I won't.

Do you think it's possible that the right one will grow? I don't want the one thats growing to get too big that they abandon the whole thing completely!! I worked out that if they grow 2-3mm max a day it will only be 18mm on wednesday when I go back for trigger shot. I will try phoning them and see what they think?

Yeah, it's probably sensible to phone and ask, but if they don't agree with you then doing what you think you should do would be more of a deliberate disregard for their advice

Yes, it's definitely possible that the one on the right will grow and catch up and i feel certain that the one on the left won't get too big to use either.

The ultimate worst case scenario that i can foresee is that they decide that two is too many and try to abandon, but that would be a massive over-reaction imo.

Overstimulating to the point of it being dangerous for your health is when you have like 30 follicles growing, the risk to you must be minimal xx

They said to me at the start that 2 would be ok, I have tried to ring but no one has got back to me so I might just do it, I read up a bit this afternoon about OHSS and like you said it is extremely unlikely to happen. Will give them until tomorrow morning before I do stim to call me back x

I should have kept one post instead of starting two lol.

Well the silly nurse never rang me back so for the last 2 days I have been doing 150miu!! I went for scan today and it just happened that they were trying their new machine and I ended up being their guinea pig for about an hour!

Follicle on left is now 14mm which I thought might be a bit bigger than that but thinking about it after scan on Monday i only did one stim before scan today. The one on the right is 12mm, the lining is perfect. She told me to do my stims for today and tomorrow and then they will trigger shot. I am keeping fx that the right one catches up. I didn't mention that I had increased the dose which was a bit naughty but I am not going to over stimulate! I am hoping both will
be about 17mm - 18mm on Friday!

I had a couple of bottles when my cycle failed and i was supposed to be not drinking again but i haven't been sleeping very well and i've had a shit day so a drink sounded like a good idea

I need to figure out what the difference is between Merlot and Cabinet Sauvignon (sp)

Congrats on the follicles, a 12 and a 14 sounds ideal! Really good

Should both be over 14mm come trigger and that is what is important - you're back in the game

Hey, just read this thread! Good Luck with your follicle growth! Im interested in you saying you have increased your stim without the nurse knowing. What exactly is your stim? Ive been thinking if being sneaky and upping my dose od letrazole as I have spare tablets. I know that you can double it but for some reason my dr wont do it. Ive had the 2.5 mg already and it didnt work so was thinking of taking 5mg instead. I know ig wont over stimulate either. What you guys think?

Hey Laura

I was on 75miu FSH injections and my follicle was not growning very quickly so they increased it to 1.15miu which started to make it grow faster but I knew by the scans that if I increased it to 150miu I would have a better chance of getting another follicle to grow. I think sometimes they want to start us so low just incase but if you know your body and know that the risk is nearly Non existent then I would go for it. Hope this helps!!

Hi Mel- really hope they both grow the extra few mm by Friday!! Grow grow grow!! And Laura - I think you should double the letrozole dose if you have the pills! I'm taking 5mg this cycle xxx

Laura, if it's not working then i'd double it. That's what i'd do. The risk is there that you might grow a few too many follicles but at worst it will just be one abandoned cycle... it's better than several pointless cycles because the dosage wasn't high enough.

The letrozole doesn't have any side effects that you are sensitive to do they?

Thanks Blondy I knew you had been put on 5mg which made me think well it is posdible and my dr is perhaps being over cautious or just has different procedures!

In terms of side effects Louise none that I know of! Think I will then! If I can get any growth and even more than one follicle growth I think it will be good! This is also my last cycle as they are only letting me try this then its my wait for Ovulation Induction.

Today is dragging for me I just want to be in 2ww!! Hope day flys by on a plus note I have been teaching my brother to drive and he passed this morning woo hoo!! So relieved ashe failed last time and was grumpy for days!! Trouble is he hasn't got a car and I know he will try and use mine all the time!!
