starting to get itchy palms, i'm 28 weeks 5 days it started out the blue this morning after taking my little boy to school. its both palms. sometimes inbetween my fingers and backs of my hands get itchy as well.
I can ignore it most of the times but i know its there niggling away to be itched nowhere else is mega itchy either. I'm not too sure if its something to worry about or what not just wondering if i should phone my docs and cancel my appointment for my midwife at 30 weeks and ask for one at 29 weeks and talk to her about it then or see what happens and keep the 30 week appointment.

any others had this and everything turned out to be fine and was nothing to worry about?

Hi hun, really sorry, but this is definitely something to worry about! Itchy palms and soles of feet are the main symptoms of obstetric cholestasis. I had this in my previous pregnancy and just have been diagnosed again. You need to have this checked out straight away.

Sorry for not being very reassuring, but please do take this seriously x

its okay i.love any kind og info is greatly recieved :)
I'm gonna wait til I have picked up my lil boy at the school at 10 past 3 and if its still the same or worse i'll give my midwife a quick ring and see what she says.
I've never had this in my previous 3 pregnancies :/ i had hypertension with my daughter and then pre-eclampsia with my youngest my first pregnancy was problem free.
Does the itching affect everywhere? like arms legs etc? x

I think you can get itching anywhere on your body, but it's the palms and soles that are the main difference between normal pregnancy itch and an OC symptom.

In my first pregnancy I only had itchy feet and palms as far as I remember. This time I'm very mildly itchy everywhere, including palms and feet.

I only noticed this recently (started getting it very mildly, but thanks to my previous experience I recognised the symptoms), and I'm glad I mentioned it straight away as they diagnosed me the same day and I started medication the next day. Hopefully this should reduce the risks for me and my baby.

I do hope that you do not have it, of course :) Good luck! x

It says in my pregnancy notes that itchy hands or feet needs reporting to the midwife. Even if it stays mild, don't ignore it. It's better to be a time waster than undiagnosed!

Ive not had time to phone midwife since getting home from picking up my son from school but the itching has stayed the same. But when bathing my youngest tonight when I put my hand in the water it stung a little didn't realise that I had been scratching that much or that hard :/
Im gonna see how I go tonight but my feet are beginning to feel itchy now but I can ignore it a bit but I know that the itch is still there xx

Oh dear :(

My itch is barely there, I only noticed this time because I knew that I am likely to get OC again. It was so mild that I was hoping I was just imagining things... But no, I wasn't :(

Hope you can get an answer soon! The blood test only takes a couple of hours.

X

I'm going to phone my midwife tomorrow if the itching is still there but knowing my luck it will be, I really dont get it i had a problem free pregnancy with my first and had problems with my 2nd and 3rd and now it looks like i'm having problems this time around as well :(
i've gone and done the stupid thing as well before i asked on here and looked on google :( really shouldnt as the stuff on there with what is said is the stuff of nightmares

Hiya ladies, I have been to the hospital today and had tests for cholestasis!
I noticed my urine was really dark the last 4 days , felt really hot and then yesterday started with really itchy palms and right foot! I called hospital and they said to go in for assessment! Am itching all over tonight although hands and feet the worst part! (More the tops of my feet than soles!)

The doctor didn't seem that worried just said I would need tablets and vit k if results are positive!
Should I be worried? I will already be induced 38 weeks anyway as am type 1 diabetic! What else might I have in store?

I think they usually want to induce at around 37 weeks with OC, but if you're already being induced early they might just let you go to 38 weeks as planned. Xx

Laurans yeah don't worry too much hun, it's not that horrendous. The itch is annoying, there is a tiny risk for the baby (very low and not properly proven either). But mainly you would need to be induced early, but as you are going to be at 38 weeks anyway, it's not such a big deal for you :) hope your results come back negative, but even if they don't, please don't panic :) x

Don't worry too much, it's not perfect (of course), but this condition is not that bad after all... it just needs to be reported and treated, that's all... X

Itching is starting to annoy the utter crap outta me i can be fine for a bit and then bam it'll hit me especially inbetween my fingers and toes itching has started to bother my arms and legs a little just hoping its not OC and its just im allergic to the washing powder or soap i'm using :/ Going to be phoning doctors in the morning to see if i can rearrange my appointment to see the midwife from the 16th to this Wednesday xx

You don't need to see your MW for it. They would do a blood test for you at the hospital! And you would know within a couple of hours. No way I personally would wait until Wednesday.

I had phoned the midwife yesterday and she said to monitor it til Friday and update her and she will come out to see me on Saturday then but if it increases then go to the fau at hospital to get my bloods donex

Glad to hear that you have a plan and hopefully will know for sure what's going on soon x

Found out last night that my cousin and her mom had it in their pregnancies so looks like it could be genetic x
