Hi Ladies,

How annoying is TTC/charting/testing etc. when you've come off BC! :wall2:

I've had the following cycle lengths since coming off BC in January:

24 days
27 days
19 days
22 days

:looped:

I'm using CB Dual Hormone OPKs and the first time I went straight to peak on CD9 (no high), the second time I had 3 high days then peak on CD13 and this month i'm currently on my 5th high day on CD17.

I haven't been OPK-ing long (3rd time atm) but might have to jack the CB OPKs (costing me a fortune!) in for the cheapies. My only problem is I've got slightly addicted to knowing the high/peak days (even though it hasn't helped any so far!) :poas: and I worry i'll feel like i'm missing the right days without them. Maybe I should start temping.

I'm really hoping I get my peak tomorrow as i'm starting to worry i'm not going to ov at all this month.

It's still worth trying even when your cycles and Ov days are all over the place isn't it?

How long did it take you to get into a normal pattern after coming off BC?

Should I be worried about being on my 5th high day on CD17?

Thanks :flower:

P.S. This cycle is the most EWCM i've had. I've had it for the past 3 days in a row.

I've never had any problems with my cycle lengths fortunately, but everyone is different. I was on Micronor as my BC for a few years. I came off of my BC on 20th March and got my BFP on May 1st - so I fell pregnant within my first month of coming off of BC which was super lucky. I think it somewhat depends on which BC you were on and for how long. Not sure if it's myth or not, but it has been said that with some BC, when you come off of it your fertility rate increases pretty rapidly shortly after you stop it. Which BC were you on and how long were you on it for? The BC I was on is the mini pill so it's a progesterone only pill.

I know how expensive it can be using the digi OPK's but they are so handy. As I said, I fell pregnant in my first month but I did track my with OPKs regardless. With mine, I never got a flashing smiley face to say I was in my high fertility stage. I literally went from a blank circle straight to a solid smiley to say I was in peak fertility - which I had for 2 days.

So with me, it seems my cycle regulated itself straight away. I ovulated on CD17 & 18 which is when I had my solid smiley faces. DTD on CD17 but not on CD18, so the DTD on CD17 is what made me fall pg. I didn't opt to use the OPK strips because I don't have high opinions of them myself. They can be very stressful because although they can give you lines, it doesn't mean that because you have a line you are actually ovulating/in your peak day - and to me I just find that a pain in the arse! It was easier using a digi to just know one way or the other - if I was or I wasn't ovulating.

Just because your cycles are not regulated yet, don't give up on the OPKs - it's your best chance of knowing whether you are ovulating or not because your cycles are so unregulated. If your cycles were regulated, I'd say there wasn't as much need to use them because you'd know realistically when your peak days are. But since you are so unregulated, you really need to keep track of what your cycles are up to because if you miss those days as you aren't using OPKs then you'll keep missing your chances.

I wouldn't worry about being on your 5th day - some women have 9 days or even more. But usually they say if you have more than 5 days I believe it is, then you aren't going to get it that month. I might be wrong on that, but that's what I remember reading somewhere with someone else.

I know it's such a struggle and it's so stressful, but you've just got to persist. Your cycles will regulate themselves soon enough - it all depends on which pill you were on and for how long. Each individual is different - some people take only a few months to regulate and some people take even up to a year. With me I regulated immediately so I was lucky in that sense and I wish I could pass all of that luck over to you hun.

My FX for you and please let us know how you get on and whether you achieved your peak day or not xx

Hi,

My cycles are similar to Loula, I came off the Logynon at the end of October and cycles went from 35 to 37 and the previous two were 38 days. Annoyingly they are longer than I would like!
I am still figuring out this ovulation business and only used 2 OPKs last month which were negative but then a few days later had a lot of EWCM around CD23 so I 'think' I may ovulate later. For this cycle I am going to check EWCM as well as CP. I dont have the patience for temping just yet and will use up the cheap OPKS I have.
I was on the pill for 16/17 years so I figure it is a big adjustment for my body and I can not even recall what my natural cycles were like before BC, so it's all a learning curve for me at the moment! Tell you what though, I wont be going on the pill again.

If you are having lots of EWCM it usually happens a few days before ovulation so it could be any moment now!

Other than that just DTD as much as possible! I know its so frustrating right now but FX for a BFP soon :-).
xx

Tbh we aren't tracking too much at the moment as we have a holiday planned next month but after that it'll be all systems go. But the past few days I've noticed pains etc so that was cd 17 to 20 which is I think my ovulation time x

Wow you've been very lucky Mariexo :yay: Big congratulation on your BFP. It's really nice you are still giving advice to TTC-ers even though you have your BFP :flower:

This is awful but I can't remember exactly which pills i've been on. I first started them when I was 17 and i'm 33 now, so 16 years. The ones I remember are Microgynon, Ovranette and Dianette. The most recent was Ovranette and I was probably on that one the most out of all of them.

I know what you mean about the OPK strips as i've used a couple of them as well as using the CB Dual Hormone this cycle and I got complete negatives on the days I was getting my flashing smilies (I thought there would at least be a faint line as last month when I used them, in conjuction with the CB ones, I was getting lines that got darker every day).

I've ended up buying the CB Dual Hormone sticks only from ebay. I've already bought 2 CB Dual Hormone packs, including the holders, so buying the sticks only was cheaper (£14.99 compared to the £27.99 for the Boots one). I hope they'll be legit though :eh: I'll use the holder i've been using this cycle. I really hope they arrive tomorrow though as i'm out of sticks :wall2: and I got my 6th day of flashing smilie today .

I'm starting to think the CB Dual Hormone OPK has missed my peak solid smilies though as my 3 days of EWCM changed today to creamy lotion.

I'll keep going. A girl at my work took 2 years TTC, whereas another 2 fell pregnant in a month, so they are good reminders to me that it's different for everybody and I just have to be patient (so much easier said than done!).

You have been on the pill the same amount of time as me. Which one were you on? I know what you mean, I will really think hard about ever going on it ever again!

Thank you, you too! x

That's good to know Loula as i'm on CD17 today but have only ov'd on CD9 and CD13 before.

Enjoy your holiday! :good:

I was on Logynon the whole time! Im now wondering does it make a difference to which pill you were on to how long it takes to conceive?!x

After 12 yrs of being on the pill, it took 4 cycles before mine got regular. Mine were around 23/25 days at first with only a day or so for bleeding. One month of acupuncture and they went to 28 days and 4 days of bleeding- caught on the month after! Sending luck xx

Wow I might have to try acupuncture. Sounds like it worked a treat for you :good: Congrats!

I finally got my peak today after 7 days of high -flashing smilies- and on cd20 :oooo::dance:
