Iron tablets..

I'm not taking them yet but i'm in the same boat as you, picking up my prescription for iron tablets this afternoon. I didn't know they caused stomach upset, I'd heard they cause constipation though.

I'm on iron tablets prescribed, they begin with F but can't remember their name, I'm also on folic acid, all this due to me being slightly anemic. Yes, they help cause constipation but only if your diet isn't right, if you are eating correct, they really should effect you anymore than normal constipation during a pregnancy.

Drink loads of water, keep up the fruits, keep clear of wheats and such.

I was on iron tablets from 14 - 20 weeks and I didn't get any side effects at all except it turns your poo jet black!
I stopped getting restless legs when I was taking them so I was sleeping a lot better.
I actually felt sick when I wasn't taking them but the tablets didn't make me feel sick. I know everyone suffers from side effects differently but usually if there is a side effect then I will get it but I didn't.
You don't have to be nervous about taking them because you will notice the difference when you have been on them for a few days and feel a lot better.

Apparently spatone is an iron liquid which is much gentler on the tummy. Might be worth buying that instead of the standard iron tablets.

im on them 3 times a day and they make me feel sick, and constipated and sometimes get diareah sp? i find i dont feel so sick if i take them with orange juice

when i had to take them i thought they was ok except i couldnt take them with tea coffee etc.

no tea coffee 2hrs before taking them and 2hrs after taking them.
