I hate smoky smell too. I just moan at every opportunity to my oh in the vague hope he might give up! He's always gone outside but i still hate it. Maybe just hand wash it and pretend he was sick on it if you want to save feelings. My aunt knitted a beautiful blanket but it really smelt of smoke i just washed it and it was fine

I don't see why you should make excuses about what you wash or not... I am planning to wash absolutely everything that LO touches. Ido the same for us after all.

I'd wash it. Wouldn't care who knew. You are putting your sons health first. So very glad hubby gave up smoking! He was a very heavy smoker and stank all the time. He gave up just before Xmas last year an not touched one since.x
