My mum has an auto immune disease, its her own cells which attacked her lungs giving her lung disease having never smoked caused by a higer than normal immune system turning on her normal cells, she needed cemo and is on immune suppressants.

It can be inherited so im always a bit worried, but I noticed everyone has caught this cold and cough, both kids, husband, sister, mum (had to stop immune suppressants to get rid), literally everyone we know, I haven't caught it, ive been waiting but nothing. So I started thinking about it and I cant remember the last time I was sick. Hubby said its defiantly not in the last two years but we put it down to pregnancy making my immune system higher, but it must be even longer back than that.

How stupid is it that I want a cold! Just so I know I don't have a higher immune system, my mum never used to get sick :S xx

I don't have any advice just hope you have the immune system you want.. I have never really caught bugs and been ill ever but Before I was pregnant I used to get a cold every month without fail, sometimes twice, anyway since being pregnant and having Hannah 16months ago I have only had 2! Hannah has been just the same, never sick and 1 or 2 colds (and im not even sure they were colds!) So my immune system has improved loads and hannah has a good one too. Xx

Pregnancy doesn't make your immune system higher but lower so I don't think that be why you've not got sick. You may? have a healthy good diet that helps you from getting ill. Men don't always tend to eat as healthy as women.

If it can be inherited would you not be able to get tested for it to see if you have what can later in life activate it?

Not really any tests, you don't know until it turns on your body and even then it can be things like arthritis that isn't as bad, it took forever to diagnose my mum and she had to push for tests and mmr on her lungs. Maybe ive just been lucky.

Ive got a terrible diet but healthier than it was (no takeaways anymore) so maybe its to do with that. Thanks for the replies xx

You'd be surprised! My HB levels have always been high even during pregnancy when they dropped a tiny bit they were well above average which really surprised me because I have been very underweight for a while. That sad, aside from migraines and the sickness. I wasn't ill ill ifywim I don't get flu or proper bad with colds since a teen (touch wood haha) just stuffed nose and bit of seasonal cough but nothing really bad I've not needed anything too sooth lately lets put it that way so you may just be strong :D If it happens it does happen in that way I do agree that they medically develop continuesly :)
