Hello everyone,

Went for hysteroscopy on friday, was very painful indeed! But I suppose it had to be done... they found a polyp which is in the cavity of my uterus.

Went for infertility appt this morning and had discussion with the nurse, she was very nice and gave us lots of info. We are already doing all the things she advised, but was still helpful! Had an internal scan (yes, another one!) and she said I deffo have PCOS, I can't believe in all the years I've been having scans for cycle problems that no-one has seen this before.

She said I'll be advised to get the polyp removed as it is probably stopping a baby from implanting because of where it is. Its quite large too, again can't believe its taken this long since was spotted a year ago on a scan.

So we have been given next appt for 21st of June, which seems a long away, considering I could be getting the polyp removed in the meantime. They'll hopefully book that in in the next appointment, and she said they'll probably give me clomid (she didn't say when, assume they'll see after had polyp removed) after that.

I'm nervous about removal cos know it will be painful like hysteroscopy. Kind of feeling mixed today.....was half-hoping they'd say nothing was wrong, so news feels bad but then also not un-solvable. So now just got to wait patiently until June! I feel like its all gonna take years .....

Hope everyone ok xxxx

Hiya Sarah, i was thinking about you just yesterday and wondering how you were :)

It's been pretty quite around here.

Sorry about them having found a polyp after all this time of messing you around, but it is good news overall. I'm not sure you would have believed them if they had said nothing was wrong so at least it's clarification :)

What was she looking for with the second internal scan to confirm PCOS?

21st of June is just around the corner really, although admittedly these last few weeks have dragged so much for me it's unreal - but we'll get there! ;)

If the last one was quite painful, maybe you should mention it to them and they can give you some more fo the good stuff?

Aww sorry not been here for a bit... :( I will make up for it this week with lots of posts!! hehe.

Yes it is good to have things clarified, just a bit annoying how they give diff opinions. On Friday the hsyteroscopy lady said the polyp wouldn't cause any problems - if you're not a fertility specialist, don't guess! Its nice finally speaking to doctors who know about these things. And I know its bad news but it could be a lot worse - I'll feel better when I have the thing removed.

The internal scan is just part of the 'baseline' checks for infertility clinic. Also they see things that no-one else does! She was looking for cysts on my ovaries, which when she showed me the screen were very obvious! She said I have 'textbook' PCOS (think that was for the benefit of the student in the room).

Seems ages away doesn't it? When is your next appointment? I have also been meaning to ask you about your fertility problems too, I don't know much about you! Just know you are having IVF... You're so knowledgeable and helpful that you never need advice! haha. Anyway I hope everything is going as planned. Wish we all lived near each other (I actually don't know if we do or not!) so we could meet up and discuss all these things. Its so hard.

Ha, I asked for 'the good stuff' for hysteroscopy but they said no. I took maybe baby's advice and had some painkillers before but was still in pain during and afterwards (still have cramps from it!). Will make more fuss next time. Seems to work.

Take care x x x x x x

I don't know when my next appointment is - maybe next week or maybe next month or maybe even the month after that! It's driving me nuts.

I don't have any issues at all, just hubby has very poor sperm so need to have ICSI :)

You hang around on the forum long enough and you learn some stuff ;)

I bet there is someone that lives near to you. Where are you?

Oh so they haven't given you the date yet? that's rubbish. Fingers crossed they'll let you know soon! I don't want to start a weekly countdown or anything to our next one cos I know then it'll seem longer - will try and forget about it!

Ah right that is what I thought from reading your posts. When my hubby got his sperm test results today I was really surprised that 50% motility is excellent! At first I was 'oo is that bad'?! I guess 50% of them is a lot!!

Thinking about it, I actually like the 'none-identity' type thing from this forum, I think if I met in people face to face I may find it harder to talk. Just gets a bit lonely sometimes when all your friends are pregnant.. xxxxx

I met up with someone on the forum who doesn't even really post that often but we had a great time - we went out of lunch and chatted so much that they had to come and ask us to vacate our table in the end lol

Hi Sarah,

Sorry to hear your news and a I'm little cross it took so long but hey let's not dwell on the negatives and say yay to the great news that you're finally getting sorted! :)

It's interesting you had your PCOS confirmed by an internal scan, I had a bit of a moan at my last fertility apt that I hadn't had one and they said they could see all they could see on a normal one, I'm not sure I'm convinced and I do have the odd wonder about PCOS?

I had bloods for PCOS that came back good, did you have bloods and if so how were the results?

Also Hun, if I were you I'd be having a good old moan and getting your polyp app ASAP on the back of it taking a year to diagnose, also if you have a general, you may as well get a laperoscopy too at the same time.

Then you can get back TTC with no worries at all.

xx

Hi Maybe :)

Yes I'm still very cross its taken so long, the more I think about it the weirder it gets - I've had scans (external and internal) since I was 18 cos of cycle problems, and always been told that I definitely don't have PCOS. Yet yesterday they were adamant I was born with it!

When the doc showed me on the scan, its really easy to see the cysts on the ovaries, they are like a string of beads going round the edge of the ovary. So mega easy for them so spot, I assume its the same on external scan but if you are worried you should ask for internal scan. My bloods showed high testosterone (again, think I had same bloods done a year ago and they were fine) which is why they suspected PCOS.

Yes I'd like to get it removed quickly, unfortunately the nurse just said 'the doctor will most likely tell you to have this removed as it will be stopping a baby from implanting', so it will need his ok on the 21st of June. So stupid, I'm sure she could have just nipped into his office for the ok for me to have it done! And still don't get why they didn't remove it on friday as they had the tools right there!

So think I will have to wait.......... and then wait to recover......... and then wait to get clomid........... and then wait to see if I start ovulating.......... hmph!

On a brighter note, how are things with you? x x x x x
