How was your second compared to your first?

We are expecting our second baby and to be honest I'm getting very anxious about it.

My first labour was very long and difficult and she was a week late.

Any ladies that have had two children, how was your second labour compared to your first? And were they early, on time or late?

Thanks hoping for some encouraging stories but obviously want to hear them all good or bad lol x x

My first baby was born after a 45 hr back to back labour which ended up with epidural (which didn't work properly) and left me concerned about baby no.2 but needn't have worried as with my second I woke up with regular contractions at 7am (every 3 mins or so) but not that painful that I couldn't handle them at home, only rang the birth centre as had felt no movement, they asked me to go get checked out so took my daughter to nursery, went to my friends then eventually took myself off to the hospital and was told I was 4cm dilated and could go over to a room in the birth centre if delivery, as I'd had such a long labour with my first I sent OH home to swop cars arrange for our daughter to be picked up then come back. As soon as he left my contractions kicked in in full earnest and without me realising I went to fully dilated within about 45 mins, midwife was quite surprised as had no times for ny obs to be done and told me I could start pushing, old her that wasn't possible as no-one else was there lol! My son made his appearance about 15 mins later after a very quick labour with my OH and my best friend getting there with only a couple of mins to spare lol!

I'm hoping that this one is also as straightforward - fingers crossed!

Thanks hun wow what a difference! That really gives me hope for my second, your third will probably be even quicker! Was your first and second late or early? I'm just fed up now and want her here x x

My first was 9 hours and so painful I had to have an epidural! The second was 2h49m 4 mins pushing lol only has and air for those 4 mins!! X

with my first i had a normal labour, contactions started at 12 midday and got worse by 8pm, i had only gas and air which didnt help much, i wanted a water birth but when they went to add a bit more warm into it my waters broke and i was shattered so they gave me a sugar drink, was just like drinking pure orange juice with a bag of sugar in it. and hour and half later she was born at 8:17 in the morning. she was a week late.
with my second i had to induced as i had low AF so on my due date i had a pessary inserted for it to not work so come 8 had another one inserted, by half 9 i was having the worst contractions ever coming every 30 seconds lasting up to 5 minutes, my waters broke at 1:55am the next day and i was only 5cm by then but i said i needed push (i was given a epuidural which failed 3 times) so i started pushing and my son was born at 2.02am. i haemorrhaged after and had loads of stiches and i tore. My midwife and MIL both said they had never seen such a brutal labour before. i had no pain relief at all i was saying that i was dying. thoughout my second labour i had a total of probably a minute between contractions i didnt have time to recover from them. x x x

My first was quick he was born 40 mins after my waters broke but I had a 3rd degree tear. My 2nd was born after 6 mins of pushing 10mins after getting to the hospital. I had a small tear which I had stitched only so it healed better.

I was dreading the birth after having to go to theatre after my first!

My first was awful , I was so worried about the second one . I was wrong like was born in under an hour with no issue and only gas and air.

Both mine were early my first was 10 days early and 2nd was 7 days early, hoping that this one follows suit lol x

Thanks ladies Some really quick labours! So hoping that mine will be the same and that she doesn't keep me waiting too much longer I'm getting bored of waiting now! lol x x
