How painful?

Great post Treeze, so helpful - esp love the bit about ordering pancakes through a contraction @ F&B's x

Nadine, i feel bruised down there too! Probably baby getting further down! Will have a look at that thread hun, thanks.

Treeze, great post and really helpful! Thank you for that.

I guess its just because i have no idea what to expect i am shitting myself so bad. xxx

ahw don't be scared.. honestly when the time comes you'll be so excited and you really do just get on with it.. it's wierd because between contractions you feel absolutely fine.. joke about stuff and just be completely normal... and then when you get another contraction you just deal with them one at a time... you do get a break inbetween and they do start gradually in most cases.. so don't be scared - you'll be just fine x x x

Thanks hun, i just feel like i won't get through it or be traumatised for the rest of my life. I don't even think i'll have the strength to push her out. xxx

I think it depends how quick your labour is because mine went from nothing at all to mild back pain to agony in about an hour or less! Could be because i was induced though, im not sure xx

I felt like this but honestly babe your body will just take over! Im an absolute wimp and i have the lowest pain threshold ever but i was able to deal with it and i didnt ask for an epidural because i knew i could do it without one - never thought id cope so well! xx

i agree.... your body DEF takes over and you don't really get a choice! Cherelle you did so well not to ask for an epidural.

I wanted one but there wasn't time and i couldn't believe i got through it just on gas and air.. I asked for an epidural but the midwife almost laughed and said "you've not got time!" I didn't even think to ask for any other sort of pain relief and looking back i think "why on earth didn't i ask for pethedine or something?!" - i was just in another place mentally and prob a bit high on the gas and air which was FAB!

It was like i was in a different place/time and eveything just happened contraction at a time - all be it very quickly! it was like it was happening to someone else!

And regarding the pushing i didn't realise when i got the urge to push and i swear that my body just took over and started doing it for me... i was really scared to push with that feeling but when i did i honestly felt the baby shifting down and then thought "this is going to get her out quicker!" - i only pushed a couple of times and she was out (6 mins total!).

honestly you will be so excited at the time and all you think about is when the next contraction starts... you will be just fine hun x x x

Awww thanks girls! Its scared of the unknown and not knowing what to expect... i want her out so much but terrified. I can't wait to write my first post on here after i've had the baby and say...i actually got through labour lol. xxx

N the mad thing is as soon as u have ur Lil poppet u really do forget about it all, x x

I never thought I'd have anther child after my first, mainly coz of labor but now look at me...... I could have had a section but im choosing not to n even with the shit mw app yesterday I'm still very excited about going in to labor n it all starting!! X x x

I had an epidural but it didn't work for me and I got through my labour on gas and air. I'm not going to lie, I found the contractions complete agony, but like others have said, when you feel the need to push your body just takes over. I was begging the doctors and midwives to help me get him out, and when they couldn't I thought to myself I'm just going to lie here and not push then, but with every contraction my body just took over and made me push him out.

The midwives I had were fantastic and got me through it. You will get through your labour, just make sure you try to stay as relaxed as possible and listen to the professionals as they really do know what they are talking about.

Thanks again girls, you really do make me feel better!
How can someone go through so much pain and come out of it, its amazing. xxx
