and when are you planning on going on maternity, do you think you should cut hours down especially if you are on feet all day or go on maternity leave earlier? x Just curious x I know im only 16 weeks but im struggling already with being so tired im just dragging myself aroung all day with no motivation x

Hi hun,

Im 26 weeks and I work full time for an Auctioneers. I work in their jewellery department taking photo's of everything which is going in to sale and doing all of the admin work involved. Alot of my job can be standing up all day, especially when photographing the lots and when we have viewing for sales.

Ive decided I want as much time as possible after my bubbas here, so Ive saved some holiday up and im finishing work on 22nd September and then my mat leave will officially start on the 4th October.

I cant wait for 22nd September! Im counting down the days lol.

If you are struggling though, it would definitely be worth maybe reducing your hours and seeing how you get on with that xx

I am a full time teacher and loving the break over summer now. I plan on working until christmas, and then i can start maternity leave on the first day of term in january, i then plan on taking 6 months off going back to do a couple of weeks in july then will have the holidays again!
I havent really considered going part time when i go back, i will definately try and go back full time but will see how it goes.

I think it just depends on what job you do, if you're on your feet all day and struggling then start maternity leave earlier, and if you can afford it financially then you could always take longer off so that you dont miss out on time after the babys born.

Hey! I work full time as a personal trainer and do lots of little jobs on the side. I've just given up one of the jobs, I'm still doing my horse riding teaching, and gonna take maternity leave just before Christmas so I have a month before due date. I'm going to play the teaching by ear until I cannot manage any more I think! Nothing like having a rest! Don't know about hours, I kinda can't afford to cut my hours, I still have holiday so if by then I'm struggling I will use holiday to go on mat leave a little earlier!! X

i work full-time in a sales job for a local college, i will take as long as ossiblt off so long as i am being paid and then discuss working pattern before i return, they are likely to be flexible with me and i may even get to work half at home and half in the office :)

Hi,
I am pregnant and also have a little boy. I'm a Snr Manager at a bank in the head office. I work full time but do 3 days 7am-6pm and then make up the other 5 hours on my days off, evenings or weekends by doing e-mails on my blackberry. I work at home a lot but go to London one a week so get a 6am treain out and get home about 8pm to make up hours that way.

Flexi is the way to go if u can do it - u get the best of both worlds, full time salary but also days off. Mind u, my 3 days are very tiring and I never quite switch off cos of the blackberry.... Love my job tho so don't mind xxx

Hiya..I am in full time..software engineer with strict 9 hrs of work and believe me its getting tough..I am thinking of starting my maternity leave from 8 month but seems I will have to pre pone it..:)

I work fulltime in a school and have the school hols at the moment. I am takin maternity leave 6 weeks b4 baby due as I suffer with high BP and am having a section after 2 previous xx

Hey,
Im also a full time primary teacher and enjoying the break, its heaven. Im due 12th Nov so im going back after the hols for 7wk until October half term, then my mat leave will start 29th Oct. Really hope I can go until then, because its really tiring now! Then im hoping to return to work part time on a job share doing 3 days a wk after May half term next year. Thats the plan so far anyway! xx

I'm working full time ATM and have Lacey to look after and I'm shattered lol!! I'm going on mat leave early though at 32 weeks as I don't think I'd last any longer spesh as my jobs very physical :(

I work full time but am sat at desk all day so its not too bad for me but the general dayis stressful. I finish 2weeks before i am due as i want s much time off with bubs. I wad tired all the time but seem to be ok at the mo so hoping it wont be too hard in work towards the end

I work full time as a pa, so mainly desk stuff. We're trying to move out of London, so I reckon if we manage that, I'll nit go back after Christmas and use some of my holiday, but if we're still here :( then I'm just gonna play it by ear. I have fantastic bosses, and hubby is the IT guy (the office is seeing this as an office baby, lol!) so he can arrange for me to do most things from home and bring any typing back for me. Can't afford to stop working though, toughie.

I work full time in marketing, but although the majority of the day is spent sat at a desk, it's quite stressful, and i'm consciously trying to block it out and not push myself as far as i normally would... don't want a stressy baby!
I'm going to break up the end of November, have a weeks holiday to take before mat leave officially kicks in which will give me 6 weeks before baby's due.
I'd like to not go back to work at all but think i'll have to part time, although not sure my job could be done part time so will need to discuss with the boss and maybe look for something else. Not thinking too much about it yet!

I work full time as a nurse and due on the 29th jan. i plan to work allof xmas and go on leave after duties the 26th december. Ive then managed to use all of my annual leave then mat leave starts about 4 days before due date but will be off about 4 weeks before baba due xx its not too bad at the moment but just done nights and was a real killer told them i dont mind doing them but reduce from 4 nights to 3 they very good at work xx

I work full-time and I'm planning to stop at 36 weeks - will take 2 weeks holiday and then maternity leave will start 2 weeks before baby is due.

Not sure how long I am taking off but I'm pretty sure I don't want to go back full-time. Will have to see how it works out.

I work silly hours and have definitely seen it have a negative effect recently.

I work for a radio station in promotions/marketing but I'm also a presenter too. My hours day to day are 9am - 7pm but most of the time I work earlier and finish later because its an incredibly stressful job. I work most weekends hosting and presenting events and every Saturday night my phone goes non stop with problems at work until after midnight! For the last two weeks I've been covering the breakfast show too so doing a 5:30am - 7pm day every day. I was OK until the second to last day when I just broke down on my way home and had to wait in the car for half an hour at the side of the road before I could see through my puffy eyes! My ankles have been really swollen and I've had cronic headaches so that's it now, no extra work and just on the 9am-7pm day - no extra!

Hey hun...lol just read ur a personal trainer...how lucky are u!! ul know which exercises to do after giving birth then to get bak into shape....can share some tips too with us ;) xx

I was full time since november and regretted going back to day work when little one was three, (did half nights after she was born) Only went back cause OH got made redundant and we swapped. I reduced my hours in nov, and now do 5 hours for 3 weeks and 7.5 (fulltime) for the last week every month. (it's only Project admin/invoicing and financial). Changed hours due to struggling with all the homework help with my three kids and dinner /baths etc as I got in late they were too tired to do it, kept getting told off by school!) funny to see all you teachers on here - be nice to the mums please we are doing our best!

I hate my job , it's too stessful , most have been made redundant and we are all under too much pressure.I am staying only to stay on there books for the mat leave for 1 year, (hoping they make me redundant while I'm off) I have proposed a leaving date of november 5th! I know it's early , but have enougth holiday saved to cover the rest of november and not start mat leave till 1st dec, and that gives me 4-6 weeks before as I will be due a 38-40 week section.

I aim to be starting up in my hand crafted card supply business, to small specialist shops and maybee online , nearly went for this before, and loved it, can work evenings etc then. (know it will never make me a fortune, but I will get job satisfaction from it). Well thst's the plan, sure it will all change!

That's such a long day for you, sounds too stressfull too X

It is hun! Spoke to my boss about letting me have Monday mornings off for aqua natal but instead he wants me to quit the presenting side of things. If I do, I won't be able to afford to take as much time off when I'm on maternity.
