...for hospital. I hope to be out asap and OH can always fetch more but how many should I initially pack? And how many sanitary towels? Thanks

Oooh good question! I wasn't sure about nappies so will be keen to see what people say....

Maternity/sanitary towels I've read various things, some saying 40-50 odd!! At the moment I packed two packs of 10. And have a couple more packs ready for when I get home or if I stop in hospital longer for OH to bring in.

I've packed 6 nappies, small pack of wipes, cotton wool, 2 ready made bottles, a handful of breast pads and 20 maternity pads. I'm sure the hospital won't let mum or baby go without anything, especially if you've made some effort to bring some supplies.

I took 20 nappies as I planned to stay in for 2 nights and took 20 maternity towels. I think I only used 4 of my own towels while there as they gave me some

My friends advised picking up several packs of different types of nappies and only take one pack into the ward with you - leave the rest in the car and send your OH out to get them if you run low. Same goes for anything else which takes up a lot of room in a bag, our hospital only allows one small/medium sized bag/suitcase. I had to negotiate to get them to let me bring in a medium sized one as there was no way I'd fit stuff in for me and baby plus little things for my OH into a small bag. Space is limited so use the space that you'll have in the car as extra storage, a lot of hospitals will send you home on the same day if you request it and there's nothing they need to keep you in for.

I'm taking one pack of 24 onto the ward with me and leaving another pack in the car just in case. :)

The hospital have some large towels that I found more practical for straight after birth as the ones I took (Asda little angels) were abit small. Think I took 10 and was fine. As for nappies, I stayed in for 3 days so needed more bringing in, but initially I packed around 10. Think he wee'd on some before I even put them on sometimes! Handful of breast pads should be enough for couple days. They do have their own supplies, bottles etc, but my hospital are abit a strict and don't actually want you to use them, or anything! but did supply something if I was in between waiting on things to be brought in! X

I'm planning on taking a pack of nappies in on the off chance I might be kept in a couple of days or so. Towels I'm not sure about but probably a couple of packs as I don't want to be short of those xx

We were told to bring enough nappies for 8 changes per day (So I packed 16) and have packed two packs of maternity pads and ten pairs of breast pads - If more are need OH can bring them in :) My bags are on the smaller side so needed to pack accordingly.

x

I've packed 8 nappies and I'll put two packs of mat pads for me and if baby needs more nappies, I will get dh to get some as we are 4 mins from town x

Im packing 1 pack nappies , 2 packs mat towels but im having a section, might pack more nappies nearer time as hubby might not be able to get in more than the once to visit due to trains times/kids etc

I've got one pack of nappies and three packs of maternity towels as I'm having a section and might be in for a little bit longer x

I'm packing 10 nappies, 10 breast pads and 6 maternity pads. I plan on having back ups of those and some other things in the car so my hubby can grab stuff if I have to stay in. Last time I was in for a week and very unprepared! This time I'm hoping we will be in and out same day so only packing my bag for a day but obviously having a good supply in the car if needed.

I packed a whole pack of pampers nappies and two packs of maternity towels. I didn't use anywhere near all the nappies but did use all my towels and a pack of the hospitals own ones. We got home on day 4. Space wasn't an issue for us at the hospital so I packed on the side of caution knowing I'd be in longer with having a section.

I also had an emergency second bag with extra bits I could tell OH to bring in.

8 million nappies and one billion maternity pads. The meconium seems never ending............. but the bleeding post-natally is something else.

I used about 6 maternity pads in the first few hours following delivery! It's my fifth baby so I know what I found right in the past. One pack of nappies - about three packs of maternity pads! X

OMG I so need to buy more maternity pads!!!

I suppose every body is different but I liked to change pads frequently and as you are sitting around, lying about whilst in the hospital, I was very concious of leaking all over the place. I still leaked despite my efforts - the first few days are particularly heavy x
