Hi guys,

I need advice, our inbuilt oven is 'self cleaning' - it hasn't been manually cleaned for ages and is in a right state - what with things bubbling over and exploding everywhere.

Anyway I don't want to do my usual bleaching and scrubbing, as I believe that would ruin the 'self clean' coating?

How do I clean the minging oven - I'm thinking soap and water is gonna be really hard work as the oven is absolutely caked/baked crap all over it.

Any ideas?

If it's really bad then oven pride works well just spread it all over, leave for a while and wash off, you can get it from Lakeland or Waitrose

(strong chemicals though so keep babies and animals away from it)

Have a look at the instructions that come with your oven. If I remember correctly, you basically put your oven on at a high temperature for a while. It burns off all the stuff and then you just wipe with a damp cloth. I think using chemicals on it stops it being a self cleaning oven because it destroys the coating that makes it self clean.
