Hi girlies!
I've not been on here much during Ashton's pregnancy but I was a frequent visitor whilst pregnant and after I had my dd Mia! Don't know if any of you remember me?
Anyway Ashton was born on Sunday afternoon and is amazing. He's and I have taken to breastfeeding really well! I struggled with Mia and gave up after 10 days but she had severe reflux and I got pnd.
Anyway my question of the day is about the amount he feeds!!! As soon as I go to bed in the evening it's at least 12 before I can settle him from constant feeding and then he feeds every hr!!! He went every 2 hrs during the day. Does this settle down a bit?!!!
Mia only used to feed every 3-4 hrs in the night and more in the day so I'm not used to this!! Strangely though I'm coping with the lack of sleep really really well and feel fine!! Im not sure how much longer I can sustain this though! We have even tried a formula top up each night but he still only goes an hour!
Any advice on your experiences would be great! I don't expect to change it, just wondered how long your babies took to space the feeds a bit longer?! Xx

It sounds like he's trying to get your supply up. I think after a couple of weeks my dd started going longer and now at 11 weeks she sleeps 9pm-5/6am. Hang in there and it will get easier and he will go for longer between feeds.

congrats Tanya :)

those early days of feeding were very tough, with long feeds and not much space in between but it does get better I promise, I think it was after a couple of weeks you start to get breathing space! xx

It is possible he is trying to increase your supply. You can add foods to your diet that help with this, I believe almond milk is one? And definitely stop the formula until he goes longer because if he is trying to increase your supply you'll be hindering the process by skipping a breast feed. But once he's settled you can combi feed

Also, try feeding lying down if you can. I found it tricky in the early days but after three months I started co sleeping and doing night feeds lying down and it has helped me immensely. But I was afraid to do it before he was a bit bigger.

Our little one would only sleep on us for the first three months so we took it in turns to sleep which was tough but it was the only way we got any sleep. So it is possible he is seeking comfort too and maybe cradling him or swaddling may help a little too.
