Sorry but I have to get this off my chest and I know you ladies will sympathise!

Today I had an appointment booked with the consultant to discuss my elective c-section, which I booked after seeing the consultant at 20 weeks because he specifically said he wanted to see me around 32 weeks to discuss it.

So I get to the hospital today and first off my sample is positive for glucose and protein. Then my BP is high, but on retesting is fine. Then the junior consultant comes into speak to me, asks what I'm doing here and tells me I didn't need to see a consultant for my elective, I should have done this at vbac clinic. :wall2:

While I'm there she mentioned my GTT was borderline high. Not so much of an issue in itself but I've been measuring three weeks ahead sinice they've been measuring me. No one has contacted me at all to discuss or advise me of this! So it's a good job I booked the appointment I didn't need then isn't it? She proceeds to measure me and I'm coming out at 36 weeks according to her  Tells me I need a growth scan which she will book for me, come back to vbac clinic next week and she sends me on my merry way.

I got a phone call 20 minutes later, by which point I'm seething and have gone back to work. It's the day unit telling me I should never have been allowed to go because all my tests were so bad today and they wanted to scan me!!

When I got back there and spoke to the midwife in day unit I ended up breaking down into tears complaining that I'd been made to feel like an idiot for being here in the first place, and then that nothing had actually been explained to me. To be fair she was great, apologised about the mix up with booking my section and booked me into vbac clinic next week. She explained the were going to do another scan to check growth and fluid which was all fine and was nice to see the little fella again kicking around. She also booked me in for a repeat GTT next week on the same day as my vbac appointment to see whats going on with that.

I've usually had fantastic treatment from the hospital and cannot fault the midwives there, but I really cannot get over how shocking this doctor was today. Sorry for the rant. I just needed to vent somewhere without feeling like a hormonal crazy woman!

That's awful! No one should ever be made to feel like an idiot. I'd be making some form of complaint against the junior consultant. Assuming they are technically still in training you'd have thought they'd would have been far more cautious than how they actually were.

Glad to here the scan results came out fine and that you were able to see your little one squirming around in there :) Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well xx

Sorry you had a bad day! It seems like doctors are really bad, when I went for 25wk GP appointment I got told I didnt need to see the GP unless it was a non pregnancy medical concern

Consultants are renowned for messing people about, and usually they send an underling to do the dirty work of telling the patient that there was no need to be there etc. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. But Hopefully the midwives will get things sorted for you.
