Anyone used the boots male Home Fertility Test to check sperm count? OH has suggested maybe him taking one? We only been trying 6 months so don't think nhs will entertain us yet x

I've seen those but OH never tried it in the end as GP was happy to arrange a sperm test for him. I did kinda wonder how accurate it would be though? Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yeah I'm curious...it basically says it is doctors test accurate at diagnosing low sperm count but then says if you get this result to see your doctor. I just wonder if it's worth a go. As if it was a bad result it might speed us up the waiting list and equally might point us in the right direction. Chances are though if there is a problem is me or both of us. Not sure how ready I am to face that possibility for either of us yet x

I think it's important that you can deal with the results regardless of the outcome. Personally, I'd rather know but that's me. OH is a lot happier not knowing in a lot of cases. Unfortunately with all our issues, he hasn't really had a choice!! He should count himself lucky that I'm the one that's had most of the poking and prodding!!

I don't know much about these home tests but there's a lot more to sperm analysis than just the count so I'd personally feel happier knowing that the sample was analysed properly and that I could trust the results. That's just me though.

I saw some awful reviews where people said the test said there was a problem, they went to get tested properly and there wasn't an issue at all. Also it doesn't test for motility. There could be lots of sperm but if they are just sitting about reading the newspaper then they are pretty useless. It's free to be tested on the NHS and pretty quick.

Still waiting for DH's results but it's been nearly 3 weeks so we are hoping that's a good sign.

How long have you been trying sunflower? I didn't think NHS would entertain us yet as only been 6 months? Xx

Over 2 years. 6 months isn't that long. They might not test. Why do you want to test at 6 months? 6 months is the average time it takes to conceive, which means it takes many couples longer. It may be better to relax and keep trying than get involved in tests and such already as it can get very stressful, and when it gets stressful you can run into performance issues and then you're in a whole world of stress! Unless your OH has reason to think he might have a problem or you are over 35.

I'm not overly concerned just yet. I think OH just suggested it cos he wants to feel like he's helping and being proactive somehow. I've suggested we Keep going as we are until after my birthday in Feb. That would make s year since I had coil out....altho we weren't actively TTC for about 3 months after that. Then if nothing has happened maybe get checked. We trying to relax and go with the flow. I think because we delayed by nearly a year due to finances and me buying a horse we both hoped it would happen fairly quickly but in honesty a couple more months isn't the worst thing in the world as will mean we have more credit card paid off and in better position financially. Just painful in the short term all the waiting and wondering is so hard. I don't know how you ladies stay so positive.....i keep telling myself that's the only option to be positive but i still fail from time to time x

Sounds like a good plan. a while ago I checked out getting a private test. It was about £150.

With being positive, I've lowered my expectations I guess, so if it happens it would be wonderful but generally I assume it might not.
