Help with unusual girls names.

We still cant agree! Dh suggested Kayleigh the other night. .... erm....NO!
Back to the drawing board with 9 weeks to go :-(

Oh and our surname is Merlin-George ( I couldn't bear to lose my name on marriage so we hyphenated). So any new suggestions for our little girl will go on my new list for dh!

I bet you anything if I Juno on the list dh will give it a big fat tick! My next line of investigation was roman names and arthurian legend!

It's so hard isn't it? I love having Temperance and I've only got nice comments about it, but if you look hard enough there will always be something to say about a name. Have a google I love the goddesses names Temperance was a Greek goddess who judged would going to the afterlife. There are tonnes of really nice ones. Kayleah? What talk about doing a 180 from unusual to common lol x

If you like mythology Athena is a good one, or phoebe, theia, aura, clymene, Selene, hestia

Roman has Minerva, vesta, flora

Still like Juno best.

There are loads more but those are the ones nearest to sounding 'regular' whilst still being different x

I like mythology ;-)

I love the name temperance. I mentioned snow to my hubby the other day ( even tho were not preggers). I need something to go with skye and he thought that was too far :( booooo!!.

I love unusual stuff. Hubby just shoots me down x lol

I love unusual names too. If my lo had been a boy he'd have been called Forest, Phoenix or Neo. I also love Snow, and Rain. Juno is very nice too, I love it! Also like Edie which was mentioned on another thread.

I'm a childminder so have come across a couple of unusal names over the years.

Boys
Enzo
Zia (Zee-ah)
Cassiel (Cass-ee-el)
Raayyan (no idea why all the letters?! lol) Rayan is much nicer.
Niko

Girls
Atlanta
Krishna
Malena
Amina

Can't think of anymore.

I went with Jack & Harry .... boring but i love them lol x
Zaakihah

Poor Malena- that's the technical term for blood in your poo! Spelt a little differently but pronounced the same. Lets hope the other kids don't pick up on that!

I know of the name Milena and think it's a really pretty name (well, I know of a girl with this name who's really pretty so that's how I judge it lol). I think from memory its a popular eastern european name.

There are advantages and disadvantages in both the common and
unusual names.
For example, a common name like Michael is both easy to pronounce
and remember but the name is common, so there is a high possibility
that there might be quite a few other Michael’s in your child’s class or
workplace.
An unusual name may make your child stand out from the restbut
the question is would she or he want to stand out? If your child is shy
and does not like attention, this may be a problem. However, if your
child likes the spotlight, then it may be a good thing.

I hate common names, actually think oh no if someone names there kid a common name because I associate it with the people I know with kids called that,

And I don't think kids with unusual names get more attention maybe for a second when its new but once its been used a bit its like any other name, one reason ive not let bullying stand between me and names i like is i was called names 'specky becky' because my name was Becky (probably the most common name ever) I DIDNT WEAR GLASSES!!! kids are dumb if they want to pick on someone they will even if it doesn't make any scene. haha x

I always think of the doctor/lawyer test.
Would I want a lawyer called Princess Sunshine Star to represent me - no.
Or, hi my name is Dr Tinkerbell moonshine, I'll be operating on you today - no.
It shouldn't matter, but it does. I know Drs who have told me of classmates who have changed their name via deed pole to be taken more seriously amongst professionals and patients.

I don't even know my drs first names! In all honesty though I would trust a Dr Newton so and so more than Dr Levi, then again there are a lot of perfectly normal names that I don't like because I associate with people I went to school with so Jessica, Natasha and Kaycee all make me cringe because they where the school bullies and that's all I picture, even though there is nothing wrong with there names themselves.

There's unusual names and odd crazy names! Big difference!

I'm all for odd names that aren't common but aren't too out there!

My daughter is Breagh (bre-ah) x

Yeh ive heard about babies called superman :S Or gollome lol x

Most people with strange names (that I have known) either change them legally or go by a different name as adults.

Really? Im shocked I don't know anyone who has changed there name xx
