i had my first scan today...im not even 6 weeks yet :-( the thing that is really bothering me is...when i went to the loo before my scan (as i had to empty my bladder so they could see baby by doing an internal,as it was too small)....i had the smallest amount of brownish blood...i went straight in and told the sonographer...she started the internal and found a sack with the smalles baby inside with a heart beat flickering....but she also found a blood clot iether in my womb or just outside of it,its a build up of blood. i was sent up to the womans ward to discuss it with a doctor. the doctor said its not what they call normal but it can be very comman....it may come away and i will bleed or it may stay there the whole time.I'm going for another check on it in a week or two to see if its got more or less. hing is what i didnt think to ask at the time and im now sooo afraid is...iv always heard that a blood clot can kill you???? cant it go straight to your heart like deep vein thrombosis???? baby seems fine but still very early on. she said i must not exert myself too much or lift or carry heavy things.easy to say but i have three children to look after.can anyone shed any light on this bleed???? and did anyone experience this also???? i am a very panicky person and i suffer with extreme panic dissorder so please help if you can.thank you.jade.xx :-(

I'd think a blood clot in your womb is not going to kill you hun. You bleed clots every month as part of your period.

I wouldn't worry yourself too much about it. The doctor didn't seem overly concerned so neither should you be.

Lots of women experience this in early pregnancy and while it is stressful it usually doesn't affect the pregnancy or your health x

I'm assuming this would be what a lot of women experience when they worry about bleeding early on but never know the cause. I agree that if it was serious the doctor wouldn't have let you leave . Hope you are able to stop worrying soon! X x

Hey hon. The blood clot would have to be in your circulatory system for it to be a worry. There is no way it will go from your uterus into your system. Try not to worry.

Good news they saw a baby :) xx

hi all....thing is i dont know if the blood clot was in my wonb or if it was next to m womb....if it was next to my womb it could be in my circulatory system couldnt it?? i am so afraid.i woke up at 4.30am and didnt go back to sleep and before this i had nightmare after nightmare about my kids dieing. i feel like i am going insane.

You poor thing. I agree with the others and really dont think its any danger to you, if it was they would have warned you. If it is worrying you so much though, please phone either your G.P or midwife and speak to them to put your mind at rest, they wont mind at all, and all this worry is doing you and lo no good. Hope you find some reassurance soon. Xx

Hiya! First of all ' big hug' - you appear to be really really worried about things but you will be okay!
In terms of the blood clot - it is not in your circulatory system (by this i mean you don't have a blood clot in your veins or arteries - the doctor would not be able to 'see' a clot inside your veins.) When you have a period the lining of the womb will loosen and come away, sometimes as a clot. From what you have said - the doctor could see a clot of blood in our just outside of your womb - they will want to keep an eye on it to reassure you and check that it's not going to be an issue for you (It CANNOT move back into your circulatory system).
I can fully appreciate that any bleeding (due to clot or not) can be worrying and I can't take that worry away but please know worrying about this clot killing you by getting back into your blood system is not necessary as it can't.
Try and get some rest today.XX

thank you peapod and thanks to you all.i cant really rest with 3 kids to care for but i will try. im just petrified to loose another pregnancy and my partner is so happy as this will be his first child.im desperate to make him a daddy.just so so worried.xx

:hugs:- We're always here to listen and support and sending lots of vibes that you have sticky bean in there. Just try to hold onto the fact that you heard your babies heart beat yesterday, that's a huge positive!Keep us posted!XX

If they think this is a problem they will put you on clexane which is a daily injection this will thin your blood and hopefully disperse it. I had a pulmory embolism in my pregnancy. Yes they can be life threatening but its been found that's the main thing. Blood clots can be very common in pregnancy and more common than you realise. I'm not sure if it would spread from where you have it tbh mine didn't I didn't even have one in my leg but had a random one on my lung. I hope it disappears, they will keep a close eye on you now too
