I have my first scan next Friday too. I had my blood test last week, I asked to lie down and my midwife got me a glass of water as I hate them too. She was very accomodating and actually got the doctor to come and take the blood as she couldn't find my vein and thought rather than more than one attempt the doc would do it better. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought, as usual with blood tests! Good luck with yours.
