Got a diabetes test today!

Im sort of dreading it, i have never had GD with any of my others but my mum was diabetic and im older now so really worried i may have it, if it is mild and diet treated thats not so bad but i am extremely needle phobic and no way can i inject every day.

I'm sure you'll be fine honey, I'm waiting for the diabetes nurse to ring me and tell me whether I'm having insulin from today!!

They started me off on diet only but when that wasn't enough they put me on metformin tablets, it's only cus my sugar is apparently high that they are going to try insulin.

So don't worry there are plenty of other options BEFORE injections!!

Thankyou ladies,
test is all done, had to take lucozade with me for the drink, now just have to wait till Thursady to find out the result.
Apparently baby is measuring 30 weeks fat little monkey but my midwife did say she is gonna see if i can have the water birth i want after all

Hope everything is OK for you.

I've spent all morning the diabetes clinic after my GTT came back high so now have to test myself 4 times a day for a week and eat like a saint. Oh well, on the plus side, I might lose some weight in pregnancy!

Glad the test is over and done with.

My consultant said it's in the normal range if baby measures 2cm either side of the no. of weeks you are so it's nothing to be concerned at this stage that baby is measuring 30 weeks for you.

i have big babies anyway so would be more worried if it were small
i wont let them change my dates either as i know exactly when baby is due and whenever i have gone on docs dates i have been overdue but the times i have gone on mine im dot on

Problem is I gotta go back to work after me hols next week...I work on the DIABETIC specialist ward

Cant get away from it!
