I was just wondering how many of us had good births and how many of us had a bad experience.

I was induced @ 41+5 and I was terrified as you always hear the horror story's and not the positive ones , but I had a great experience and the only time I got annoyed was when the midwife kept refusing to give me pain relife but other than that I had no problems at all.

Xxx

I was induced and it was all fine and i was relaxed until i had my final midwife who was just awful. I ended up with a section and the whole.experience left me with pnd and post traumatic stress.

Although i found it to be very.distressing it was purely the midwife who made it like that and if id had one of the ones i had on the ward Im almost certain i would have found it a much more positive experience, even with the section.

I had two wonderful births! DD's birth was natural and so positive and calm. For DS's birth I did natal hypnotherapy before hand and stayed home until I was as far a long as possible, it was calm and just what I'd imagined, until I got rushed to high dependency at hospital and he was born blue but he pinked up fast and I have really positive memories of it. I'd give birth again tomorrow-it's the pregnancy I didn't like! Lol.

Two bad births but can't fault the care I received both times. My body just doesn't like giving birth!

I had a horrendous birth lasting 48 hours with a botched epidural, massive pph, infections, pre eclampsia and harrison needing resussitating and having a dislocated shoulder and broken collar bone!!

Omg is you LO ok now xxx

I had a great birth. Waterbirth with just gas and air laboured for 4 hours 58 minutes but LO came out with her arm next to head and tore me to pieces! xx

Zoe everytime you mention your birth I had a mixture of jealousy and happiness for you for getting such a lovely birth (dispite the tearing you apart bit  )

I had a brilliant birth, was induced with drip due to waters breaking, less than 4hr natural birth just gas and air! Great midwife too.x

I had a great birth although I wasn't as mobile as I'd have liked as baby was early and had to be constantly monitored.
I also did natal hypnotherapy and had a 22hr labour but only needed g&a for 15 mins. It was a beautiful experience and I get really emotional remembering it x

Two wonderful natural, drug free births :)
First involved a bit of repositioning and the use of the McRoberts procedure as he had shoulder dystocia ( got a bit stuck), but with the right manipulation by my two midwives, he popped out perfectly. :)
Second, was a gorgeous "hands off" water birth, meaning I delivered my own baby, with my midwife watching, my hands guided her out and caught her as she swam into the world. Fabulous experience, I wanted to do it again as soon as she had arrived:)

I had a good birth, labour was about 14hrs, has gas & air and pethadine, pushed for 40 mins, no stitches, and a perfect healthy baby boy. I feel very lucky, when you hear some of the births some people have to go through xxx

2 great births. 7 hours with DD with no pain relief and 2hours and 40 mins with DS with gas n air :) xx

Horrible birth, the exact opposite of what I wanted. Got induced at 39 weeks due to high BP check. Wish I'd asked for BP to be controlled using medication in the hope I could go even a week later, as I think my body may have reacted better to the induction. As it was 3 days with tablet on cervix, got to 3cm dilated, they broke my waters and then had oxytocin drip for 12 hours with gas & air. Last drip also had diamorphine. They checked after all this and still only 3cm dilated so had to go for emergency c section. At some point during labour I pulled the ligaments in my hip and couldn't walk for weeks and was in agony. Got chest infection and was in and out of hospital coz they had to run tests to make sure I hadn't got a clot on my lungs. Everytime I went into hospital I was separated from my newborn. It just broke my heart. Good news is LO was fine all the way through which was a relief. Oh yeah and had to stop BF after 2 1/5 weeks coz of the drugs they gave me and the radioactive stuff they inject you with for the scans. Only just feeling well now. I know this all sounds negative but would do it again for J, love him to bits.

I was lucky with both had a 5 hour back to back with my first and 45 min from 5 cm with my second. My 1 st was a little scary due to heart rate dropping and episiotomy and my second I barely touched gas and air.

Bad.

I had a prolonged labour (48 hours of pains, though they recorded on my notes 21 hours, i.e from being 4cm)
Violent vomiting episodes
Failed epidural
Mid rotational forceps procedure due to baby being back to back in theatre
Baby got stuck and had a shoulder dystocia so I had mcroberts procedure
Baby needed resuscitating
Baby now has problems with her arm and neck
Episiotomy got infected and hurts still 5 weeks on

I'm left traumatised

Yeah thanks he is fine now but I am paranoid about everything now, if he cries I think that it is coz of the birth complications and not just coz he is a baby! All this happened coz my local hospital got told to cut down on c sections! The portland next time I think!!
xxx

Im one of the lucky ones with 2 easy quick births and no pain relief. I used natal hypnotherpy with my ds and wouldn't have known i was in labour if my waters hadn't broke until the very last bit. Dd was 4 hours born at 41+3 and ds was 1.5 hours at 36+0 so i had a panic on cos he was early but he was fine :)

Not good here, purely because he was early. Had Pediatricians and Midwifes in the room. Lo had to be resuscitated and was rushed away to special care. xxxxx
