Hi ladies, my 1st post in 3rd trimester as was 27 weeks yesterday :) booked in for a glucose test tomorrow as I've shown high levels of sugar in two of my urine tests lately with the midwife, not sure exactly how it works, as anyone had this before? X

Hiya. I had mine a few weeks back. Not eating after 10 pm the night before, no breakfast and only a little water to drink so I could take my medicine. They will take some bloods, give you a very very sugary drink, have you wait for a few hours (2 I think), then take more bloods. Basically, they want to see how your body reacts to the sugars they give you - which is why you can't eat or drink before the test. If your test is not in the morning, give a call and ask when you can have your last food. I hope all comes out ok :)

I had mine a month or so back and was sick and was booked for another appointment but i didnt go back because of my experience with the whole thing.

All you do it nit eat from 10pm at night and just have water and all the way till after your glucose test is over. They sit you down... take blood then give you a bottle of glucose drink which actually tasted really nice. Like flat panda cola.

Then after 2 hours they take more blood and you can go home (i only got 15 mins through) All in all you'll be there for like 2/3 hours so make sure you take something to do whilst your there.

Hope it all goes well for you xxx
