I just got moved to princess royal from forth valley royal but I wanted to go to southern central so am asking to be moved again!

wish I could have stayed with forth valley but it's just too far, I have heard horror stores about princess royal which is why I want to go to southern ( and it's nearer to me ) anyone else heard this??? Because of where I live I might have problems getting moved there but i'm really going to put my foot down. x

I had my baby at the princess royal 7 weeks ago, I found the labour ward was fantastic, staff were excellent, but the post natal ward was another story, under staffed, rude staff , no help, all in all I wanted to get out asap. So good and bad experience really, x

Thank you, guess its personal for everyone really. Just heard good things about southern general so wanted to go there x

I had both LO's in the princess royal. one was nearly 8 years ago the other was 6 months ago. I found staff at the royal on both occasions to be rude & un-sympathetic. First time round I had an emergency induction & was prepped for section, the room I was in...there was blood....everywhere all over the bathroom, looked like a horror scene. Apparently the cleaners had forgot to clean it she told me to hover over the toilet & dont flush. Second LO, I was in labour for 4 days (at home) & the royal kept telling me I was not ready to come in, I nearly gave birth in the taxi. Got to the hosp & he came 25mins later after them saying not to go in. Ended up with no pain relief & when I got there i was met with a very rude midwife. On the other hand i've also heard bad things about the southern general my pal was in labour there & was actually left in a corrodor, she was 5cm dilated & trying not to scream with ppl walking by & everything, think she's taking them to court actually.

Can I ask why FVRH is too far away now? It's still just along the motorway from most areas in Glasgow, might even be quicker to get to in traffic!! Which side of Glasgow are you on?
I'm totally loving FVRH, the midwives are lovely and everything's so new!
Hope you get everything sorted xx

i'm in Drymen, it's 50 mins from me x

Totally agree with you there! Staff on labour ward were amazing when I had my daughter, but hated the staff on the post natal ward terrib;e. I couldn't wait to get out of there, felt so uncomfortable the whole time =( x

Thanks for your opinions ladies, a few people have told me at the royal they just got put on a ward with lots of women when in labour and left there and it was very busy and understaffed. Dose anyone know if you can pay for a private room? X

Did the queen mothers close down? My sis had her 2 there and they seemed good (although the place was getting a bit grotty looking)
Its a nightmare worrying about where to go. I have similar ish worries with distance being the main factor - Stranraer's birthing centre, with 2 delivery rooms, no docs or consultants on hand, no assisted deliveries or sections, no birthing pools and no few nights staying over as they shut at 8pm every night (although there is cover for middle of night deliveries that are booked in there) OR- cresswell maternity hospital in Dumfries an hour and 40 mins away with all the specialist care you could need and birthing pools. (still no epidurals mind you!!) but the thought of having to sit in a car on the crappy A75 all the way down has made me book in to Stranraer - everyone says I'm mad but the reality is if there is any tiny sign of something not going straightforward then you get taken to
Dumfries in ambulance anyway.
I suppose in your case forewarned is forearmed and you and your partner can be ready to
Fight for your right to the proper care you require and not be treated badly. It's so so sad to think midwives and healthcare assistants are rude on a ward that is surely one of the happiest wards to be on with all the wee babies!

Yes it closed down. I'm 40mins away from the hospital which is quite far too. Not as far ad you though :( three is a hospital down the road but they only offer pethadine :( and I'm worried I'll want more then that! X

But if that hospital is nice and relaxed and homely then you might feel much happier about the labour which will mean everything could happen nice and easily/ smoothly for you and you won't need stronger stuff. (that's the way I look at Stranraer as that is the strongest ill get) the overall ambience and comfort of somewhere will surely add to the pain relief?? (I'm laughing at my self writing this - I don't know who I'm trying to convince!!!)
Decisions,decisions!!
Xx

Hope u manage 2 get it sorted, I don't really have any experience of either as I had my other 2 and am having this one at Wishaw General Hospital. Didn't wanna read n run xxxx

Thanks, just asked to move over so just waiting to hear :)

Im going to princess royal and know loads of people who have given birth there and they all had really positive experiences.
I suppose it depends what you're expecting, personally as long as its clean and there are drs around if i need them, i dont care if my midwife is rude or not. And im sorry, but i would point blank refuse to use a toilet that was covered in someone elses blood!

All thoughts of something being dirty (blood) goes out the window tbh, I couldn't care less if i was lying out in the street or in public toilets, just wanted LO out. The midwifes during both my labours were really good, its the ones before labour & in the ante-natal ward that were terrible. Esp when you dont know what your doing....i was like omg this baby needs a nappy chaging some-one hellpppp looool

xxxxxxxx
