Completely new to this forum so hi! :)

Sorry this may have been asked before, but I am looking to be pregnant anytime after June 2019 and I have been on the depo injection over two years now.

I have spoken to my nurse and she has recommended me to go on the pill in August this year to try and regulate my body again.

Has anyone had experience doing this before? Or is it better to just stop taking the pill altogether and just use condoms until I am ready to not use any protection at all?

Trying to be prepared as possible as I have read some horror stories of trying to conceive after being on the depo shot!
Thank you

Personally I'd come off completely and use condoms if you're confident you will use them properly and regularly. I think it's good to give your body some time to get itself back to normal.

It took over a year for my body to get back to normal after the deposit injection, my sister was the same one time but fell pregnant straight away the second time so it varies not only from person to person but in each circumstance as well.

I struggle with the pill as it sends my hormones all over the place; but everyone is different

I'd agree, give your body chance to have natural periods. It'll be a chance to get to know your cycle and what's the norm from you.

Also I heard lots of friends take a year or more for periods to become normal after the pill. For me, they never did - after lots of gynae investigations I just turned out to have irregular cycles for no reason, just the way my body works. The GP only referred me to gynae after 6 months because I pushed for it, and waiting list was several months. When we then did start ttc a year later at least I knew what my cycles did, and so wasn't taken by surprise by my ridiculously long cycles. Had they diagnosed a problem, e.g. PCOS, I would've also had the opportunity to get help sooner

I can off depo Aug2016 after 6 months on however I have used it alot through my life and I had a period of time using withdrawal method which I'm not recommending in your case but it allowed my body to be natural. We starting trying April and I caught first month. X

I would avoid hormonal contraception if you're planning to get pregnant fairly soon. It's really important that you get an idea of your natural cycle. Going on the pill will just give you a withdrawal bleed so you'll have no idea about your cycles. I had lots of problems when I came off the pill which I wasn't expecting as I was regular before going on it. Lots of ladies report problems although many do fall straight away. If you're able to use condoms til your ready that's definitely what I would do.
