.... if you were getting a new coleague at work and someone told you their name is "Mali" what would be your immediate impression of them?

just trying to see how it would ocme accross on an adult.

wow, I really cant spell today! Hope you get the idea!

Rather I would think they were original and different! I cant read today!

I'd think "OOOH that's a nice name - I wonder, is it a man or woman? If it's a man I wonder if he's fit". That's about it.

I wouldn't know if they were a man or a woman

I like it, it would it be pronounced like Male (sounds like Maa-lee) (capital of the Maldives)? It sounds a bit like Marley.

How are you pronouncing it? May-Lee? I know a Maley pronounced like Bailey only with an M and I really like that name :)

I love it! It made me think of the Maldives... which is a good thing as I've never been anywhere more beautiful! It's a country in West Africa too isn't it? I like the exotic sound, anyway

I'd think it would be some one pretty and exoticand strong as I think it sounds quite a strong name. Really like this name!

I think a fun female person straight away, lovely name choice!

must just be mamafy and I that are pervs and took the fitness aspect into consideration - ooops!

 You make me laugh! Its a girls name, not pronounced marley or Mailey, Mali as in "alley" but with an M. But dont think of alleys think of exotic holiday destinations! Its not really exotic either, its welsh, it rains all the time! BUT I think it sounds exotic too, I think this is the decided name if its a girl, its quite original sounding but its a traditional name, people have forgotten about it I think!

Nice to hear positive comments, its easy to imagine on a little girl but not sure how it would ocme accross on an adult.

Thanks everyone!

Being welsh .... i LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish it had been on our list of names *doh*

it's a lovely name :-) I was thinking of some exotic adonis - that's just cause I'm rude tho, sorry

Okay well we still need boys names, any addonis names for us?!

Baby will be in welsh school eventually so I suppose everyone will know it anyway, but what if she wants to leave wales in the future!? Everyone will think she's aboy!

OMG I cant call a baby THAT! "Leeroy" might not sit well with a welsh speaking kid from the countryside anyway!
