Hi,

It's not for me it's for my friend who is also a member of pf but she hasn't logged in for a while. I said I would do a post for her.

Her day 3 FSH results were 12.4 and her GP says this can mean early menopause and she wont get ivf on nhs and could mean ovaries are shutting down. Basically doc was very insensitive about it and jumping to conclusions. She has been ttc a year with a chemical last september but hasnt used protection for 3 years.

Please can someone help shed some light on what it actually means?
I have mentioned AMH and antral follicle count are more accurate. But just wanted some people with more experience to tell me their stories and maybe offer some hope too as she is thinking the worst and devastated after what her gp has said

Thank you girlies xxxxx

Tell her to not give up hope. We had to go private as classed as poor responder with high fsh. The lister hospital in London specialise in this area. We tried 3 cycles none that worked for us were cancelled but...on the back of one of the cancelled cycles we decided to carry on trying..the normal way...

Funny thing was we never gave up hope, tried everything had acupuncture, baby aspirin, maca royal jelly and conception vitamins. We got our bfp last year and now have a beautiful 4 month old daughter. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask xx

Btw my fsh was about 60 and got it down to 30 when we conceived and we're told we had 5% chance of conceiving naturally and to consider donor eggs.

Ahhh Lucyboo that is amaazing ! :) will definitely copy her over your message! :) will help a lot I think. Thanks so much :).
So amazing you got your bfp and naturally :) xxx

Tbh I think as soon as doctors see high fish they automatically write us off. They should give people a chance. I'm still convinced my elevated fsh was related to taking the mini pill a few years back.

I have high FSH too, they do seem to write you off when they see those levels. I responded v well to IVF when technically I shouldn't have, the consultant said they were very anxious and had low expectations but my body did a great job. Things don't always seem to go along with what the numbers say. I would say to your friend not to sit on it though, get more tests and get a full picture of whats going on. Antral follicle scan and AMH would help to get a better picture of whats going on.

Lucyboo, what did you do to reduce FSH? xx

Lisey, I just ate healthy, was aware of what my body was doing and was more tuned in with my body. started acupuncture, took maca, royal jelly, baby aspirin (started the month we conceived) and also had (sorry forgotten the name) it's a green powder from Holland and Barrett which I mixed in smoothies. I'll try and find it. Also the month we conceived my acupuncturist done this thing on my tummy called a moxa box which apparently heated up my abdominal area. He wasn't a fertility specialist either, just bog standard acupuncture guy who didn't charge a fortune.

Millielaura I would also get your friend to ask for repeat bloods after her next cycle now she is aware x

Was it wheatgrass? I have been taking that too as I read good things. I did acupuncture last year, I am not sure if it reduced FSH as I didn't have it repeated again once I started. I might try some of those other things xx

Yes wheatgrass that's the stuff. It's worth trying definitely. Defo consider the aspirin as it apparently increases the blood flow around the ovaries etc... I was thinking it might have almost woken them up.

It tastes disgusting but worth a try. I still ovulate every month (touch wood) so no sure if I need aspirin and I am reluctant to try it as the consultant at the recurrent miscarriage clinic told me not to take it as I don't have a clotting issue and I could increase my chance of miscarriage by 20% if I take it when there is no need for it. So many women take it with success on here though so I do question that but with my history of losses I would be worried that if I took aspirin and miscarried again, that I would blame myself xx

I used to have it with squash. I just chanced taking it from doing research myself. Obviously if you have been told that you wouldn't want to risk it. But then you don't really know what statistics they are basing that on or if it's just coincidence that the 20% happened to be taking aspirin. I just wanted to try anything and everything. x

Will screenshot her all these thanks girls :D
I've been debating trying baby aspirin but i've read conflicting info :/ when in the cycle do you take it and is it actually called baby aspirin haha? I'm super health anxious, its not harmful to take like that is it? Xx

I agree Lucyboo, could be complete coincidence and those people would of had miscarriage regardless. If I hadn't had losses I think I would try it but I know I would blame myself if it happened again and I was taking it. I take the wheatgrass with juice too, still tastes horrible but I can stomach anything that could possibly help xx

She says thanks so much everyone :).

I have supplements with wheatgrass and barley in :) . Not sure whether to try baby aspirin as i read it can help with losses? Confusingg zzx
