How strict we're you with foods that people can be iffy about like
Strawberries, cheese etc

Did u wait the guideline time or just give them?

We weaned at 6 months and gave everything as there's no history of allergies in our family. We just were careful so if we gave a risk food we'd wait before giving a different risk food to see if there was a reaction

Waited to wean at 6months as history of digestive problems in our family and some allergies. Tried anything high risk in isolation and have had a bit of a reaction to strawberry and tomato puree at the start. Have avoided peanut butter as OH had peanut allergy as a baby. Xx

The guidelines in Greece say introduce a new food each week and see what happens. Egg white after 1 year old, fish after 1 year old, pork after 1 year old, strawberries depending if family history of allergies, salami and other similar meats after 3 years old, peanuts, almonds etc etc after 3 years old (for chocking hazard).
I am planning to stick on those as there are plenty other foods I can try meantime.

We started weaning at 4 months and stuck to potato, sweet potato and all sorts of veg aswell as pureeing fruit like apples, pears, blueberries etc. From 6 months we started giving him everything. We have no family allergy history so gave him peanut butter, strawberries, scrambled egg etc to see how he was and he's fine x

Egg white contains proteins that are one of the most common allergies and can also upset baby tummies even of they don't have an allergy.

Salmonella I think with Thomas he ate everything and just gave them to him apart from meats we stuck to the guideline on those as for strawberries our family eats a punet a time and Thomas does this on his own

xxx

Salmonella too but that's easy fixed and safe if you cook enough the egg. The real risk is the allergy that he may has or not but I suppose if you want you can try and see how it reacts.
Personally I will only give the yolk until 1 year old

I haven't given her strawberries but cheese is used in a few recipes in my Annabel Karmel book, same with fish (cod and salmon) Ive given her scrambled egg too and she's been fine with all of that.

Interesting to hear others opinions I was wondering about giving Tyler eggy bread at some point and wanted to check about waiting or not.

I was careful but only because, my LO was lactose intolerant so was more likely to develop other allergies x

I think Hunnie gave her LO eggy bread and she was fine.

Obviously we're no where near this stage yet but curious about what the issue with strawberries is?

Yep Sophie's had egg and she's been fine. I read somewhere that the risk of salmonella in eggs in the UK has been eradicated so there is minimal risk. I just cooked it a bit longer than what I would have had it at.

We don't have any allergies in our family other than shellfish so I stay away from that anyway but she's been fine with bread, meat, eggs but I think milk plays havoc with her reflux so I make her porridge with boiling water and then add fruit purée and it tastes just as good! I've been wary trying small amounts first but I just got stuck into it really and progressed quite quickly and now she has pretty much everything. I'm tempted to start Blw more now that she has got the hang of eating as its getting quite expensive buying two lots of food and I make all ours fresh anyway and if we are having takeaway that night I'll get her something I've made out of the freezer xx

Strawberries are a common allergogen too. If your lo Dosent have an allergy on those it will be ok.
Same with eggs. Because an LO had egg bread and it was ok it Dosent mean that an other LO will have it and be ok ifykwim? Ofc the other way around too...

Younger babies react more to things do its common to give the foods that they can most often cause allergies a little later when their immune system is more mature and they can handle it better.
That Dosent mean that all Los will react badly I you give it earlier. It's a risk that you take or not.
Personally I will not but that's just me :)

Just don't think I someone else had thy food and was ok your LO will be too. It may or may not be the case :)

I also didnt realise about the risks with strawberries, either way Sophie's been fine with them!

we started at 6 months and just given everything. oh except prawns and shellfish as i am allergic to them. tbh i'd rather know first if she was allergic to something.

I thought egg was ok at 6 months, but ive not given it yet.

I need to look into it all a bit more I think

Def wouldn't give any choc, salt or sugar until after a year, probably longer, waited til 1st LO was 2

xxxxxx
