I know you will probaly all think this is a very silly question lol ...

But how do I wash my towels so that when they are dry they are nice, soft and fluffy ?

Before we moved here we didn't have a washing machine so we had to use a laundrette, but now whatever I try they always dry hard and horrible :(

I've tried drying them on the line, and Tumbling them, but they always end uo the same, Ragh!!

Am I doing something really stupid! I thought you girls might be able to tell me lol!

Please Help :D :D

I always wash them with powder and loads condtioner then tumble dry on low heat till they nearly dry then hang them in airing cupboard!

I hate radiator as they always end up like cardboard!!

maybe its the type of towel you have?

i bought egyptian cotton ones and they always come out soft and fluffy now :D totally worth the money for something you use every day imo :)

Yeah Maybe too, ours are from Next, weren't cheap but aren't exactly brand new anymore! Might have to invest in some new ones me thinks!

Thanks Girls x

I have also wondered this!! My mum always manages to get her towels all fluffy and feeling like she's just bought them while mine are like a sheet of cardboard! That is why I get her to wash my towels now. I claim I have no room to dry them in the small flat, which is true in a way, but really I just want the soft towels. :shhh:

my nan told me to use hair conditioner instead of fabric conditioner on towels just dilute it a bit.

Oooh I have just posted a similar thing in Midna's dryer balls thread. I have switched to white distilled vinegar instead of fabric conditioner (cheaper) and it makes my towels nice & soft. And it doesn't smell, you just use a bit.

I like it when towels are rough and stiff  (and yes, I know how rude that sounds lol)

Fabric conditioner is meant to reduce the absorbancy of towels

Fabric conditioner reduces the towels absorbancy. I never use it on mine. I always try to line dry also as if they are less soft and fluffy they do seem to dry skin of better.

I also am one of those lazy people who only washes towels once a week, sometimes longer. I figure they are only drying off water from our bodies so why waste water and electric to keep washing them each time I use them. I've had some towels years (ahem, over a decade) and still going strong.

we used to have to dry them on raditators and they were horrible :shakehead: but the EXACT same towels got a whole new lease of life when we moved here a few months ago and I convinced hubby we needed a dryer for all the baby clothes we'd soon be washing

Bit of fabric softner in every wash and stick 'em in the tumble dryer and ta-da!! soft towels :cheer:

I think after a few times round the tumble dryer they'll loose their fluff.

Mine are always scratchy and horrible, mind you they are old, My youngest sons (1) is using the nursery towels from ~Ikea that I brought as part of a bedroom set when my youngest was born 13 years ago.
I also have my school swimming towel, complete with sew on name plate, which we still use !

I must try some of your tips for fluffy towels,

I was always bothered by rough towels, then my mum told me she uses the rough towels on her wet skin to exfoliate it and now I do the same thing and am glad of my scratchy towels.
