Hi lovely ladies,

I've recently found out I'm pregnant with my first baby, super exciting for me but also totally terrifying. I'm 20 so quite a young mummy to be I would say, and I'm in fear of everything so far!
My due date is 05.01.19, which is a while away as I'm only five weeks pregnant right now. I've had a dull ache in my tummy and back for the past week or so, they feel like mild period pains but come on randomly at any time of the day, it's kind of scary as I've read up so much to do with ectopic pregnancies and miscarriage's that every little twinge is frightening me.
I wanted to hear from you if this pain is totally normal? Currently there are no other symptoms of either thing, I've suffered no bleeding and no overly sore sharp pains, my GP already said it was totally normal but I'm still not convinced!

Thanks lovelies!

Hey! Congratulations! I am also a first time mummy.. as far as I have experienced symptoms, I had a lot of mild cramping from around 4-6 weeks.. I still get it every few days but seems to have calmed down, and feels like period cramps just not as intense.

What an exciting time for you.

Congratulations! Am 21 so going to be a young mummy too due in December. Around 5 weeks I experienced mild cramping and even some brown/pink discharge (sorry) and got myself in a right panic. Had my midwife appointment and they said it's normal. Didn't get symptoms till about week 6/7 now lovely morning sickness. Good luck with it all!

Congratulations! My mum was 20 when she had me you're going to do great :)

I had cramping in the early stages usually around when my actual period would have been due. It's all quite normal and there is a lot going on in there atm!

I was 20 when I had my son :) I still consider it young too, however I wouldn't change it for the world. You'll be fab.

Yes the twinge is normal too, it's hard not to worry though isn't it.

Congratulations!! It is such a strange time when you're pregnant for the first time...a mixture of shear excitement one moment then feeling petrified the next! That's how I felt anyway! Everyone is different with symptoms but I can tell you what mine were....I had such bad period cramps before i even knew i was pregnant. So bad that we were in town while they came on and i wasn't prepared with tampons or pads etc. So i rushed my husband back to the car and told him we need to get home, I was convinced I'd start bleeding! I was curled up on the sofa with a hot water bottle, paracetamol...but no bleeding. It was 2 days later i found out I was pregnant! And then throughout the pregnancy I had brown blood discharge (scanned and all was healthy)...and i had strong period cramps. One night i woke up thinking i was going into labour! But our baby boy was born at 40+1 healthy as could be!
I'm not going to say "try not to worry" because I know that's just impossible for you right now! As long as you don't have any other symptoms I'd assume it's just your body adjusting to the new growth and accommodating your little bean! Don't be afraid to call your midwife if you have concerns...and you could get a reassurance scan from 7 weeks onwards if you're really not coping with the worry :) Good luck lovely and congratulations again!! xxx

Thank you all so so much for replying to this thread - my mind has been put at ease for the time being!

Currently as I'm hitting the almost six week mark the sore period-like pains are easing, which I'm thankful for as I really was beginning to worry. Sadly, these have been replaced by serious morning sickness/nausea, I'm having it terrible at the minute but it's all worth it to know that my little baby is growing the way he/she should be.

Another question for anyone who can answer - did anybody else suffer with bad trapped wind around this time in their pregnancy? It's been a constant issue for the past three days and it's so uncomfortable. Also I hear heartburn is normal and I'm struggling with that too - does anyone have any natural remedies to help with this?

I'm suffering with trapped wind and its horrible gives me a pain in my back which I then think somethings wrong then pass the wind and I'm fine. Really struggling with the sickness though seems to be all day and have a horrible taste in my mouth.

God I'm like a one man band with my arse at the moment

It's all part and parcel of it I think and I am 15 weeks now!

Hahaha thank you for this ladies it's really helped! It's so sore at some points it's not even funny, don't think I've ever felt this bunged up in my life, my partners already sick of the noise coming out of me haha. Seems like I'm getting every possible symptom out there and have been right from the second I knew I was pregnant, it's so nice to know I'm not the only one.
