~February & March Mummies and Babies~

Now that's what I call a bad night. And I've already lost my temper with him and feeling crap for it :-(

8Pm... 6oz milk and asleep
9.30Pm... awake, hysterical and another 6oz milk, asleep
10.30Pm awake, inconsolable, on couch with me
1Am still awake, takes another 6oz milk then asleep
3.30Am awake, won't settle
4.30Am ANOTHER 6oz milk
5.45Am... up for the day!

And now he's switching between being hyper and screaming.

Welcome back to the newborn days eh!

I feel so bad for you Clairey, it must be so hard on you physically and mentally! Don't feel bad to losing youre temper, i know i'd be the same if I was as knackered as you must be! I really hope he turns a corner for you soon xx

Is he still not taking much milk in the daytime, Clairey? I echo what Claire said, we all have our breaking points & sleep deprivation has been kicking your arse for so long now, it's not surprising. Don't beat yourself up about it. *hugs* Get the Kenco (or whatever is your caffeine of choice) wired into you. xxxxxxxxxxxx

Is he going in the cot Clairey, when he does sleep? What are his day time napa like now?

I have added an extra layer to E and he sleeps better with that, I think he hadn't been warm.enough before. We were still up five times in the night but better than before.

What happens if you try to give him extra feeds in the day?

I have a friend elsewhere who also has a Feb 28th baby girl, who is also a shocking sleeper. I am starting to wonder if the stars were misaligned. Ahaha.

Don't beat yourself up for losing your temper, sleep deprivation is a form of torture for a reason.

Talulahgosh basically said what I wanted to but she did it so much more eloquently. lol

With regards to the milk, I still think he's getting enough, straight after breakfast he has about 3ozs, then lunch bottle of 6ozs, then lunch, occasionally will have another bottle before dinner, then dinner then 6ozs. So maybe about 24ozs a day? Maybe just less?

Nap wise he's a bit all over the place since he went in to the cot. The morning nap will only be about 20 minutes, Although over the past week he's been completely skipping the morning nap afternoon nap can be anything between 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Then depending what time the afternoon nap ended, he's not making it to bed time so having a cat nap at 4/5pm and if he doesn't get that nap he's so over tired he'll just cry for hours.

Does he have milk straight after meals? If he does maybe give him his meal (Harry has savoury then a pudding and some juice) and then give milk a couple of hours later when he's probably peckish? Harry has his feeds when Jack has his snacks then they both have milk before bed. Gradually i'll drop the bottles for snacks instead. I think by a year Jack was only having a bedtime bottle but he never got on with formula. I'm hoping Harry will still have 2 bottles for a while after his Birthday x

I offer food then offer a bottle a bit later too. O is:
7.30am - brekkie
9.30am - 7oz
Midday - lunch
2.45pm (no reason, it's just habit) - 7oz
5pm - tea
7pm - 7oz
Though what do I know, O still decides to have a party some nights.

Clare hope your ok Hun xxx is there anyway he would have a morning nap again? Xxx

Harry's food routine is:
7am breakfast
9.30 4-6oz milk
12pm Lunch
2.30-3 4-6oz (time depends on when he wakes from a nap.
5pm Dinner
7.30 6oz

Sorry I should have made it clearer, the bottles are about an hour and a half after solids, all except the morning one, doesn't matter how much food I give him he always wants that little bit of milk, won't take water.

I've tried for a week to get him to take a morning nap but he's absolutely refusing, I'd just assumed he'd decided to drop it.

I think instead of moaning all the time and getting so frustrated I just need to accept that he's not going to be a good sleeper. Maybe once I accept it I'll just get used to it???

It's our one year wedding anniversary on the 23rd this month and parents are taking him overnight so we can have a romantic night in and a sleep! So I've definitely got that to look forward to x

I am quite clearly not very good with sleep at all, but I do find the nights E sleeps better are after the days where he has had good naps. 90 mins and 60 mins one in the morning, one at night. To encourage those naps I had to just give up a week, no plans at all. Gave food atcthe same time a d naps at the same time every day. It really made a difference. Things aren't perfect, but they are improving, E only wakes four or five times a night now rather than every forty five minutes.

I don't know much about bottles and food, I just whip a boob out whenever E goes looking for it day or night.

Here's my [not so] little princess this morning wearing a 12-18mo outfit   can't believe how much she's growing

You've got a great attitude Clairey. You make sure you enjoy that overnight break!!!
Diane, I don't know if it's an comfort to you but I had my smear this morning & it was fine! I can't even say that it was uncomfortable. O's big old beautiful head must have ruined me. ;) Oh & you've got a beautiful baby girl. :)

Oh my word reading what your babies at makes me think jas is a right little piggy!

5.30/6pm tea, pudding and water

Then 8pm 8oz!!

She guzzles the lot!!

Looking up cat rehoming places. We can't take them with us and don't know anyone who will take any for us. I can't stand the bloody things but still feel terrible :(

Hi ladies, I think I've been away long enough and felt like coming on and saying hi!

I've caught up on everything I think.
Diane, massive hugs to you. Skyler is so beautiful, clever and very clearly happy so you're doing a brilliant job being her mummy. I wish I could help you feel better but if you ever need a chat, just let me know.

Clairey, sorry to hear Spencer is having trouble sleeping. If its any consolation my friends baby started sleeping through at 8ish months for 2 weeks then went through 2 weeks of sleepless nights and has started sleeping through again, so it could well be a regression/teeth etc.

Kat, big hugs to you too lovely. Ruby is also doing so well. I saw the video of her with her walker - how clever!

Clairebear, sorry to hear you can't find anyone do take your cats. They are adorable. I'm allergic to them otherwise I'd have snapped one up!

I hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the run up to Christmas? I am but realised there's 3.5months until I return to work ... Full time!! :(

We're all good here. E is her usual nutcase self. She's not walking yet but taking the of few steps and tumble every now and then. She's also started dancing to her annoying vtec toys -shaking her head and wiggling her body. She also says 'ba ba' and waves which is her saying bye bye - but other than mama that's all she says and she says it to everything!! She says it to her food, to the TV, to her toys and the other night as she was drifting off are waved and said it! She's also in 12-18 month clothes but oddly I can still squeeze her into some of her 3-6month dresses! So at the moment she's always in the nice party dresses people got her that I was saving for a special occasion but just putting them on her now before she can't fit in them at all!
On the downside we have bloody mice in our house so were 'mouse-proofing' and in looking into seeing if I'm allergic to hypoallergenic cats. I'm also starting to track my cycles as were planning on ttc'ing in a couple of months - so excited!

Sorry for the mammoth message, I hope you're well!!!!
Xxx
