********February 2019 mummies*********

Hi everyone!

Congratulations to all the new ladies for their BFPs!

We had a private scan on Saturday and all looks wells baby is measuring exactly right for our dates and saw the little heart beating away it was amazing ♥♥ I'm feeling so much less worried about everything now as well so I'm just trying to enjoy it all a bit more particular on the days when I don't feel that tired or nauseous!

Aw sleepyhead that’s fantastic, what great news!

10 days until my first appointment, it’s so hard to wait... I am desperate to hear a heartbeat!

I have learnt quite quickly that pregnancy seems to involve a lot of waiting for things - the weeks seem to go so slowly at the moment! I have my first midwife appointment next week so waiting for that now as well!

Oh Lynsey I dont even want to know what I weigh as I have been so naughty since I found out... oops. although I am living off nectarines and twisters at the minute! so it cant be too bad.

Kholl... ouch,I hope that stops for you. I wish my boobs wouldn't look so swollen!

Aw congrats sleepyhead! that must of been amazing seeing the heart beat? I have mine on Friday.

In my last pregnancy the midwife doesn't try to locate the heartbeat until much later on. I remember asking why I didn't have that at my 16 week appointment and they said they didn't do it anymore. I checked with my friends in midwifery and they told me the nhs guidelines have changed and due to it causing more anxiety doing it early on they now delay it until after 16 weeks.
I was considering buying a fetal Doppler, that way I can let the kids hear the heartbeat. I wouldn't use it alot just the odd occasion as I know some people can use them too much for reassurance.

I have my booking in appointment tomorrow; by my dates they bookRd thinking I'd be 8 weeks but after my early scan I'm 7 plus 3; I also think I'm classed as overweight - but I don't feel overweight. I might check as I may just be under but I wish I was a lot less; it's been so hard being good lately. My plan is to just try and be as healthy as possible during my pregnancy and not worry too much about weight gain as long as I don't pile on way too much like I did last time

Sleepyhead thats great news! Its so lovely!

Lynsey...each to their own, but I have two midwife friends, and they absolutely hate home dopplers....firstly, because they cause so much anxiety if you CAN'T find anything, and secondly, there have been too many incidents where people have thought they heard babies heartbeat, but its been theirs and so they have assumed all is well, with something like reduced movement, and haven't gone in to be checked out before its too late. I know some ladies really like them, but I think I'm going to leave that job to the professionals!

You girls have got me all testing crazy.....I went and bought my CB digi to use next week, as I wanted to see the 3+, but I picked up some Sainsbury cheapy ones too! Took one earlier and it went positive with a really dark line seconds after I weed on it....I'm taking this as a good sign!

I've got my scan on Thursday, fingers crossed all is well as I'm desperate to tell my mum, but I just don't want to tell her until I've seen my little bean on a scan, as she knows how hard it has been for us to get to this point, and will just start worrying the second she finds out!

I’m in the USA and I don’t know what the guidelines are... I actually HAVE a home Doppler but refuse to attempt to use it for the above reasons.

Honestly if the midwife can’t find the heartbeat at our appointment I am seriously considering an early scan, despite my concerns about them. I really need some reassurance... cause yes, it really is all such a long wait and I am so nervous after that miscarriage.

You've got to weigh up your concerns about a scan to the anxiety if you don't get the reassurance Kholl and you will make the right decision for you and your baby because you aren't capable of making the wrong one. All we all want is the best for our babies so whatever we choose is the right decision for us.

I wasn't going to go for any early scans either but after my bleeding I couldn't have coped with the worry if I hadn't had that scan to reassure me that everything was okay.

Yes agree with Donna, if it is causing you that much anxiety, then I think the scan is a good thing. I had one with my first, as I had not been tracking my cycles or anything (just hoping for the best!), so I had no idea how far on I was, as all I got on a CB digi was 3+ weeks. By the time I had my scan I was 8 weeks!! It was genuinely the most reassuring thing for me, and I loved the whole experience. TBH, I wish I could afford to go private for all the scans, as the place we go is lovely and I love the doctor but its just too much money when we get perfectly good ones on the NHS.

I will be 5+6 when I have my scan this time, so I know it is on the edge of how early they can pick up a heartbeat, but I'm interested to check that bean is just a solo bean and is in the right place!

I agree if it is causing you lots of worry it is defintely worth doing as Im such an anxious person and I feel so much better and calmer about everything now. Especially as this was such a suprise pregnancy for us!
I would like to get one of those home dopplers to try but wont until Im in the second trimester I think!

Thanks so much ladies, I have good days and bad days anxiety-wise, I just can’t imagine going through another loss and if I go too far down that road in my mind I start to get beside myself with panic. It’s a dark place. Most days I’m ok but today and yesterday my nausea has gone (again!) so that’s a trigger for anxiety for me as I start to panic about a MMC. It’s so hard to relax, even before my loss I worried so much but now that I know how truly devastating a miscarriage is my fear is that much deeper... I also know now that is CAN happen to me, it’s not just unfounded fear...

I’ll see how the next week goes and will make the decision before we go to the appointment on the 11th.

Ugh, anyone else feeling ten times worse due to the heat?
Here in the UK we're having our "heatwave" and it's making my nausea really bad! Didn't think I'd make it home from town, had gone in to run some errands, and ended up coming home within the hour, couldn't achieve anything this morning!
Have zero energy and I'm struggling to do the simple things the last few days.
How is everyone else doing? xx

Ugh Phillipa that sounds rough! Our summer has been very mild so far, which is nice. Also I’m 9 weeks today and my nausea has pretty much been gone the last few days, which is worrisome but I also keep reading this is common around 9 weeks as the hormone levels even out and the placenta begins to take over. I hope that’s what is happening. 9 days until my appointment.

How is everyone else today?

My nauseau has really eased off the last 3 days and I'm 8+1. My boobs are still hurting though and feeling pretty knackered but that might be due yo the heat!

Oh sleepyhead thanks for sharing that, that is encouraging! Mine was never very bad or consistent so it’s not shocking or sudden that it’s gone, but the bottom line is that symptoms are reassuring.

I talked to my husband yesterday and we agreed that if the midwife can’t find a heartbeat at our appointment that we’ll go for the ultrasound. I feel comfortable and confident with that decision. I just need to know all is well... and if it’s not, I need to know that, too.

That sounds like a good plan to me! I have never had consistent nausea either so i dont think its a worry that its gone away I think we are just quite lucky! Try not to worry too much I hope the days go quickly for you xx

Thanks, sleepyhead. The loss I had before this pregnancy really shook me. Though I've always been extremely uneasy during the first trimester. It's a hard time because you don't feel baby movement yet so can't have that reassurance.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Good plan Kholl :)

I'm feeling ok actually....just the feeling of having a permanent mild hangover, but I can deal with that. My job is quite physically demanding, so it was a bit of a struggle over the weekend in the heat, I did feel exhausted the rest of the day. My OH and I have our own business so I will just carry on as long as I feel able - I worked to my due date last time, but I'll just see how I feel. Its just the tiredness for me really, which is quite similar to my last pregnancy. Boobs have got bigger already!

Got my letter today for my first 'High Risk' appointment with the consultant, its at the end of August which will make me 13 weeks, so I guess they time it for right after your 12 week scan.

Had my first booking in appointment today with the midwife, it's made everything feel so real - so much stuff to look through and read through and so much to sort. It wasn't a full booking in though as I'm going to a different hospital so I need to wait for them to get to me now about a booking in appointment with them where they will do my bloods and everything.
