Well I didn't expect to be writing this now....really didn't things were gonna happen any time soon!
Friday 28th - woke at 4am with painful tightening while laying on left side, didn't think too much of it as have had nighttime contractions before that go after a few hours or changing position then nothing! But they seemed different and more painful than usual, so I got my phone contraction timer and timed them, they were coming randomly between 5-8 minutes and lasting 30-90secs. I thought I'll lay here and if they continue, I sit, if they continue, I'll stand, if they continue I'll walk! and they did - so then dozed when I could until just after 6am and had a shower, still having contractions. Told DH and made arrangements to close childminding for day, and called grandparents to let them know, as they were looking after our kids. Grandparents arrive at 8am and I realise that contractions have stopped completely- so had all the pressure I was feeling! sat on ball trying to kick start them again, but nothing really happened. I felt like a watched pot with my parents there, so they decided to take our kids to there house anyway, and if it was a false alarm would just bring them back later.....
An hour and a half past and still nothing, so resigned myself to a false alarm, and laid on my bed on left side again.....and sure enough about 15 mins later, painful contraction, then another 5 mins, then another 5 mins later...so got back up and they continued.....by 10.45am I was in agony and hardly able to walk/move, so called hospital and told to go in. Time we were ready it was 11.15am and I could barely get in the car as my back was so painful and contractions were back to back! all the way 20 min drive I was having really intense contractions one after the other. Time we got to the maternity drop off DH had to get reception to call delivery to come collect me from the car in a wheelchair as I couldn't move for the pain! Got in room, and given gas and air to allow me to get undressed etc.....midwives asking questions and saying they needed to check this and that. Had to lay on bed so they could check baby's position, and the contractions immediately stepped up even more......and my body took over and started pushing.....could feel waters pouring out and head moving down. About another 6 contractions her head was out, then another one her body came! so 12.33pm she was here.........7lb 9oz. No tears or anything.
here she is.....
