Engagement??

Right ladies,

Baby wasnt engaged at 37 + 2, ive got MW on friday where i will be 38 + 4 so will see if he is still free??

I was just wondering, if baby isnt engaged are you more likely to go overdue and have to be induced??

might sound stupid as alot of ladies that have been engaged for a while still go overdue, just my little brain is working overtime and keep thinking about it?

my friend has just gone through this with her little boy, she was told by MW that babies can drop in and pop out of pelvis a few times, they dont always stay engaged....but saying that he was her second and she did in fact go overdue. See what the others girls here think...actually you could always post in another section so what what those who have given birth think xxx

my little boy started on his due date but he was back to back so was in fact delivered 3 days late xxx

My midwife told me the same as above but also said that second or third babies can go engaged right at the last second so not sure it really bares any relevance

Mind you in this weather I dont blame you for being worried about going overdue...Im 22 weeks and hate it xx

The baby doesn't actually have to be engaged for you to go into labour, with some women the head only engages during labour so whether baby is engaged or not is no idication of whether you are likely to go overdue or not - hope this helps x

xcitedmum2b oh yeah that makes sense...they said to my friend that its the labor that can force the head down....hadnt taken that on board, thanks for that xxx
