Well where do I start - had a lovely time are gayle30s baby shower on Sunday and so glad I had a good feed too as it all started after I got home
Got home around 5pm with quite a sore lower back an stomach ache so hubby got me a hot water bottle an I lay on the couch. Had joked that we wud have curry for tea later on to start minions eviction process but wen it came to eating it I wasny interested. I will summarise events from here as much as possible
2230 went to bed an as was getting in felt a thickness down below checks it an it wmas some plug - foned maternity unit who sed if I was happy to wait to see consultant in morning as planned I cud
0330 woke needing the loo an as I got up there was that thick feelin again so foned maternity who advised me to go in - all bags were packed and in the car with ma notes
0400 - arrived at mat unit where was put on the monitor an examined assessed etc - mw spoke to on call doc who did checks an decided that they wud start me off as was in early labour
CUE ABOUT 10 ATTEMPTS AN 1 ON-CALL ANAESTHETIST LATER AND THE VENFLON WAS FINALLY IN
0700 taken to labour suite onto monitor an drip started n hell did it no take long to work
Managed o breath thru contractions till about 9 am with nothing but heat packs in my lower back
0930 said to midwife " I think they've gone", 'what' she said 'my waters' at this point she sed dya think so after seeing them flood off the bed at both sides of the bed think she realised lol. She started the clean up process while I went for a pee an I felt like david walliams' character off little Britain who pees like a racehorse
After waters went contractions got worse but at same time was such a relief - managed to go till about 10 am before asking for gas n air which did help if I took it all the time an not just for a contraction
1130 admitted defeat an got diamorphine which once it kicked in made me pretty much sleep in between contractions tho at times I cud feel myself smiling for no reason to say I was away with fairies was an understatement haha
Time seem to pass quite quick between everything that was goin on an hubby basically throwing water down ma neck
1615 - mw sed if I had the urge to push I cud an I wanted to but fear set in but eventually had no choice - pushed till about 1730 an mw sed she wud give me 15 more minutes then she was gonna get the doc to give me a hand
Cue doc arrived about 1745 an gave me an episiotomy an was just about to use suction to get minion out but sed he reakoned I'd beat him to it - one very determined mummy to b did just that an hey presto Elise was born at 1801 with placenta following just 3 minutes later
She did nd sum help as there was a lot of muconium but she was back in our arms in no time paul was crying an all I cud say was omg she's realli ours ova an ova
They took blood gas tests as she had took longer to appear an repeated them twice after that she was also a tad cold so was put under the grill in special care for the nite with me goin along to feed wen necessary. Feeding has been a slight struggle today but we both got the hang of it now and r goin home later today
