Early Scans

With both of my boys I had private scans - one at 7w(first boy) and one at 8w(second boy).

Heart beats were present in both as well as fetal pole.

The only difference Id say was the anatomy at that stage. Huge difference between physicality of the two. First boy was a wee blob with a heart beat, second son was like a wee mini baby - could see arms waving and everything.

I don't think Id go as early as 6, but that is only my preference.

Been referred by my GP for an early scan at the EPAU, my apt is Friday next week (I will be 6+2 by then). It's just to make sure I'm still pregnant after the bleeding and the slow build up on the HPTs at first.

I know I wont see a lot, but it will just put my mind at rest that I've a sticky bean. Whether we then pay for our own 8wk scan is then something we will talk about. Waiting til 12wk after what we have been through seems a long time.

Yepp, just lending my experiences.

My first early scan was due to bleeding. I bled on/off until Trimester 2 - but he was a healthy boy.

Second baby had no bleeding at all. Just shows they are all different

My scan was 5+5 We saw a little blob and a yolk sack, and a flickering heart beat
Got another one on the 16th Ill be 7+5 hopefully

I had an early scan at 6 weeks after waking with severe abdominal pain on my left side, I was admitted through a&e to their gyno ward as maternity refused to see me being so early on. They were concerned it was eptopic, however my bloods came back showing my hcg as over 32000 so the consultant said this would usually indicate a healthy pregnancy.the ultrasound showed a pregnancy sack in the right place and the internal one found the babies heartbeat but she did have to zoom in 3 times. I was so relieved and it’s totally put my mind at rest the following 3 weeks. Had this not happened I think I would have paid for a private scan as I suffer with anxiety and am older than I would have liked to be with my first pregnancy.
