just wondering if everyone is completely stopping drinking for the whole 9 months?

I havent had a drink since i got my bfp but im thinking it would be nice to have a baileys this christmas! x

Im sure the odd drink is fine at christmas... Thankfully I dont really drink anyway so dont miss it.. i rarerly have one weak malibu and coke. They do say small amounts are ok.. again i suppose its just one of those personal choices. But IMHO a odd glass of baileys wont harm.

I've stopped too other than a glass of champagne on my boyfriends birthday, and I'll prob have another one on Christmas day with my dinner. I was at a festival the week before I got my BFP and had consumed far too much cider for an unknowingly pregnant person!! Xx

I haven't a drink since I found out. Not a huge drinker anyway but I think one baileys at christmas would be fine. I might have a small glass of wine.

I've not had a drink either - I'm actually missing snickers bars more than wine!!! LOL

I'll be driving on Xmas day so no tasting for me at all :(

Never mind it will soon be May 2011 :) Yeay!!

I had a few drinks when pregnant with all my kids and they are fine chick. I reckon everything in moderation is ok xx

I stopped as soon as I found out! But well it was my birthday just before I found out and well I dont remember much of it at all! So for me personally I think I have drunk enough for the whole pregnancy lol!
XxX

Before I knew I was pregnant I went on a massive bender and I'm ok! I'm gonna have a drink Xmas day, I think it's ok as long as you don't have excessive amounts to be honest! X

Ive completely stopped. But at Christmas i will probably have one drink, marks and spencers sell a really yummy low alcohol spritzer drink so as its very low alcohol i might have two :) x

That marks and spencer spritzer sounds nice!! I used to like a few drinks of a weekend, I had a couple of sips of my sisters wine last night and felt too guilty to have anymore! lol Guess it doesnt hurt. Will be having a few glasses when the babys born to celebrate tho!! ;-) x

they recommend no more than 2 units per week hth if 2 units are enought to get you tipsy it isnt recommended they dont actually know how much is safe if any and doubt they ever will but fetal abnormalities happen when too much alcohol is consumed i knew a little boy who had fetal alcohol syndrome and its not nice for a child at all :( but so long as you are not getting tipsy and not having too much per week then should be ok after all they used to say drink guiness if you was low on iron

This sounds great, do you happen to know what its called so i can get some?

Since I found out I was pregnant, Ive had a glass of shandy (push the boat out i know) Like the other ladies have said, in moderation i think its absoloutly fine!My problem has been that i cant actually stomach the smell of any alcohol! But as im getting futher on into my pregnancy its not too bad. So maybe a little glass at christmas would be nice xxx

I'll find out later and let you know. My OH mum gave me some to celebrate our engagement so ill ask her! xx

I'm planning on having a glass of wine or champagne on Xmas day but not with my lunch as we are going out for lunch and don't want people looking a judging. I also had a massive bender before I realised I was pregnant and my baby appears well.

I had a 1/4 pint of beer yesterday for the first time since getting pregnant and it tasted like heaven. I think I might treat myself to one every weekend from now on.

I had a neighbour who didn't know she was pregnant until she was pushing her little girl out  no one had any idea as for some obscure reason she didn't show AT ALL!! she even started training for the great north run when she must have been at least 7 months. Anyway, she went out clubbing every weekend (before the training of course lol) to the pub quiz every tuesday, and used to have drinks in the house mid week too all the way through her pregnancy. Her little girl is 9 now and is happy healthy and super intelegant. Not a sign of fetal alcohol syndrome in sight!
Please dont take this as a green light to go get pissed coz we all know thats just silly but the point i want to make is that i reckon a few drinks wont hurt over christmas or a special occasion (all in moderation of course). IMO you would have to full on abuse alcohol to cause fetal alcohol syndrome. Dont feel guilty about the odd tipple but don't go out and get hammered (obviously lol) xx

I always said I wouldn't drink at all, and I stopped for a long time, but as time's gone on, I've had one every now and then. And I think it really matters more at the beginning, but as time goes on, it's more growth. (Not saying I get trashed, but like I've had a small wine tonight that hubby gave me at 5pm and I haven't finished it yet...!)
