Hi ladies,

Just popping in from tri 1 to ask a quick question (mainly just curiosity really)...

Those of you who used dopplers...what did you use and when was the earliest you first found your baby's hb?

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and as of yet i haven't found it....probably because i am too big i think...

Thanks in advance ladies xxx

"Too big" shouldn't really be a thing, to be honest. The dopplers are designed to work on all body types.

10w is EARLY.
Not impossible, but early.

Around 12-13w you'll start to get an easier chance, because that's when baby starts to move out from behind the pubic bone.

If you've any chance of finding it already, you need to really "dig the Doppler in" and angle it down towards your bum.

You still may not find it for a couple weeks, so try not to worry xx

I'm 30+4 & I still can't find the HB & health professionals can find it straight away. I don't use it anymore waste of money for me really! I like hearing the heartbeat don't get me wrong but I'm quite happy waiting for my mw appointments & I was recently put on a monitor so got to hear it for 1/2 hour &'record it as well

WSS. I think I was around 10-11 weeks when I eventually found the HB. But you do have to go pretty far down, just above the ridge of your pubic bone then push in and angle down.

Let us know if you find it.

xx

I found mine at 9 weeks but think that was a bit of luck.

Have a full bladder, after you've eaten. And not early in the day (not sure y this makes a diff but I read somewhere it does).

I have a sonaline b, but does say not useful before 12 weeks.

Thanks ladies, im not worried at not finding it to be honest i thought 10w was a bit early lol xx

I think about 10 weeks, it does depend on babies positioning and your own size etc. They are soooo good at hiding when so so small :)

I use angle sounds and found mine this time about 11 weeks x

We first heard our lo at around 13 weeks with an angelsounds Doppler x

12 weeks with mine I have the sonoline B one
Lovely to hear heart beat for first time
Took me ages to find it too as there so tiny x

I have the sonoline b, found it in seconds but not until 12 weeks, 10 weeks can be a hit early depending on position. We always found heartbeat really low not in centre of tummy where you expect but don't mistake it for your own.

I was considering buying one, are they expensive?

I was around 10+4 when 1st found it. Was very hard to find it. Then I couldn't find it again for a few days. Went like that for while till I got furher on. So my advice would be dont panic if u cant find it yet.

Yes and no. The angel sounds one is more reasonably priced (£25-30 I think) and the sonoline b is £40ish which is the one I have. I think they are a bit pricey but then again, when I had a pregnancy related nightmare one night I was so glad I had it to check on baby the next morning.

I didn't get mine until 14wks but found it quickly x

I found ours at 10 weeks. I even had to point midwife in right direction today as she took longer than me to find it. Xx

I had mine delivered when I was 12 weeks, didn't want to get it early and stress myself out with it. The first time I tried I thought I found it but wasn't sure, but after that it's been relatively simple. Give it time hun xx

Yeah give it a few weeks, I wouldn't worry at all! I couldn't find mine the other week and baby had moved about 3 inches across so took me a few try. Dr struggled to find it last night when I was taken into hospital so I wouldn't worry if I was you xx

Also, I found that if baby is being really active and swimming around it will come and go within seconds as it's moving around. It makes us laugh though as confirms our theory that baby is active when I'm hungry and then goes to sleep once I've been fed and watered - just like me lol! x

Is it normal for babys heartbeat to always be around the same place?
I find it straight away now and it's always same side around same place
I'm 15 weeks now x

Mine was until about 16 weeks and baby had moved over to middle but I'm sure it's different for everyone xx
