Doppler - am I hearing the hb?

I used a Doppler for the first time today it doesn't have the heart rate monitor just the bit that you find the heartbeat with. It took a few minutes of searching around but I think I found the heartbeat? It's like a swooshing sound like swoosh swoosh swoosh (sorry its the only way I can describe it lol) however its not as quick as the demos on you tube and stuff. Is this babas heart beat? I also put it to my heart and mine is just like boom
Boom boom the sound close to my pelvis is swooshy.

The swooshing could be your placenta. The babies heart beat should be around 150/160 beats per minute whereas yours will be around half that. Count the beats for 30 seconds and then double what you have counted then you'll know if it's yours or babies.

Yeah there's alot of swooshing going on in there. Can pick up the placenta, and the cord I'm sure. You really have to have a good listen about. Early on I actaully always found the heartbeat just above my pubic hair line, which I always thought was very low. The babies heartbeat is very fast. Either sounds like a horse galloping, or like the choo choo of a train. Something I always found was the slippier my belly the better. Use an oil, gel or cream.

Midwife listened for bubas heartbeat at 9 weeks and the swooshing is thw placenta. Babys h/b is very fast hb sound. she was searching for a while, her analysis was a tiny bean in big sack of water. u will find it, apparently the doppler makes quite a echo sound in ur uterus and baby hides from it! Ahhh so I just had another listen and behind the swooshing there is like a choo choo from a train sound like you said lol you really have to listen hard and it's somewhat annoying to listen over the swoosh to work out the heart rate but is this it???

The swoosh swoosh is your heart rate through your femoral artery / aorta, baby will sound almost like a galloping horse fast and different, you will find it just have a hunt and don't panic if you don't always find it babies are sneaky things and like to hide good luck

That's it! I had the same thing with my Doppler! I thought I had it but once I moved it to the middle, very low down and heard that super fast train noise I knew I had it! It gets easier to find from then as you know exactly where to aim, and now as I get bigger I can find it slightly higher every week and much clearer

Hey newbie1984 can I ask what Doppler your using and how far gone you are? I saw one in Argos but the reviews were pants and it stated that you should use it after 28 weeks x

Sure I'm using the angel sounds. Had it 3 days now and found the heart beat everyday xxx
