I dont work for the local council but recently got in touch with them for a bit of advice before going ahead with some work and they were extremely helpful. You don't have to give them much in the way of details if you want to stay anonymous - just e-mail them.

yes i might just ring and ask, we have planning passed for our extension and yesterday applied for our 48 hour building regs notice anyway...i wanted to know if i could render the whole house (dormer bungalow) in like a cream/beige colour, there are 2 others that are white on the same side as me so i dont see a prob but if i am building it in blocks then rendering and i have to take it off then i will be left with exposed blockwork and not brick...ooohhh...its such a headache, i am gonna ring my architect fiirst i think, i rang and asked him about change of roof tiles (colour) and he said it will be fine as its not a conservation area, what do you think?

also the lady next door objected to the first application cos of light issues so i have stuck to everything they have said and it would be lighter for her than brick surely?
