we turn everything off downstairs, but LOs baby monitor is on (obviously) and his CD player cos he falls asleep to music and I never go into turn the CD player off when its finished.
My cousin had a huge house fire and it scares me to death!!
See Tiny a man died in a house fire at the top of my street and it started from his TV plug I keep the tv and sky box on standby because I have series links for Odhráns programs to be recorded some of them start at stupid o clock.. Another guy in Lisburns house burned down, laptop charger started it I hate the thought.. Do you all do the fire safety things at night time? I close all my doors and bring my keys up with me, I know that's sad but if it ever happened you would want to be a step ahead you know? x
thats really good! We always make sure theres a key in the front door, its at the bottom of the stairs so its the one we'd use to get out anyway. We have a tv recorder and Ive separated the plugs so that one stays on, on standby for the same reasonand everything else gets turned off at the plug.
SOmeone in my OHs work had a fire during the day cos she had left her phone charger on and just grabed her phone in the morning, I do that alll the time.
I leave every thing on if I'm honest! I do close all doors and make sure I know where the keys are before I go to bed but that's about as fire safety conscious I get. OH has all kinds of gadgets and tech all over the house plugged in, out electric bills are huge! Xx
You all should be careful with keys too, one of my cousins houses was 'fish hooked' through the letterbox a couple of months ago, both his cars were nicked and they had the keys to his house I think Jen does the right thing!
I've heard of that too, the fish hook thing, I used to leave mine on the fireplace but then after seeing a tv ad, if the fire was between me and where my keys are I'd be screwed iykwim? Not the same but a while ago, 2 guys went into a house boiled a kettle went up the stairs, couple were in bed sleeping, held the boiling kettle over them and said what they wanted, how scary would that be
I leave most things on!
On firepractise ar work they said u.need to be careful with remote controllable being wedged in the sofa, if the buttons r pushed in its a fire hazard!
I turn most things off but our talk talk hub thing broke last month and was apparently due to it being switched off and on again too much!
Our smoke alarm went off last night and I swear to God I've never moved so fast in my life, Marcus and I practically got out of bed running! Turned out the battery was low - it was going off every half an hour overnight and has stopped now...no idea how to shut it up except buy new battery (which I forgot to do today). Felt like Phoebe in that episode of Friends
Now after me starting this thread, last night my friends fan went on fire Just a small plug in in her room, she said she didn't sleep all night, just as well she's a light sleeper
oh god... i dont turn anything off at all! the tv is left on standby and everything is left plugged on with the power on! only time i switch it all off is when we go away!! got me thinking now.......
OMG thats a really high bill! Get yourself one of those electricity monitors, we got ours free, just rang up and asked if we could have one and they said yes and posted it
