I'm just interested in seeing how many of you do because they say that we should feed wild birds all year round now. I have got a bird table and seed feeder and I am going to buy a nesting box soon. So far we I have only seen robins in the garden but I think they are lovely birds. I get great pleasure in seeing the birds feeding in my garden and I like knowing that I am helping them :D
It is important that you put the correct food out for each time of year. If you offercertain food in the spring/summer because this is breeding time if the chicks get fed it they can choke and die.

I put fat balls out in the winter and want to get a proper feeder for nuts soon :)
I bought my mum a "bird cafe" nest box painted up really nice and now she has blue tits and babies in it... I will try and get a pic :)

I like the idea of the nesting boxes with a camera inside so you can watch them. I saw them on GMTV :)

Ive got two bird tables always with food. 3 other hanging feeders a big bird bath and two bird houses :D

A thread about one of my favourite topics Bird Life im a memeber of the RSPB 8)
sorry im a bit sad :rotfl:

well we have 2 bird baths one bird table the main house has a window feeder
We have 1 large and 1 small mixed seed feeders, a large Nagier seed feeder for the Finchs, a peanut cage. We have 3 nests boxes and we hang up 3 fat ball cages from the trees (we make our own fat balls too) we use high energy seed recccomended by the RSPB

We feed the birds all year round putting out fat ball and peanuts in winter for food to fatten them up for the winter and in the spring for them to the energy needed to produce thier young

We only use the peanut cages that have hole small enough so that baby bird can not get a whole nut out as they could choke.

We have quite a few nests at the moment in the garden robins, Blue tits Wrens, blackbirds, starlings, Sparrows and Goldfinchs :cheer: some have already fledged and they our soooooooooooooooo cute
sorry im going of in to bird land :rotfl:

any tips you want to help introduce more birds into your garden pm me im more then happy to help you :D

I put food and water out because I like to see them :D Downside is white poop in your garden though.

I was always told that you should feed the birds in winter when food is scarce and don't feed them in the summer because they will reply on it too much and they will not try to find food for itself which would be dangerous in winter. I feed them all year too though!

In argos you can buy bat boxes too and although bats freak me out, it would sort of be nice to help house them lol Although I think I have bats in my attic

Love birds but don't encourage them in the garden with food as I have a cat and she is a highly proficient killer :(

im the same as this for exactly the same reason

I put don't do it and don't want to start because I don't want to attract other creatures into the garden, especially not with LO. We live deep in the countryside and get all sorts, cats, phesants, foxes, hedgehogs, birds etc in the garden as it is....woulnd't want to encourage any more or anything different.

Might re-consider and get a bird bath/feeding table for LO when he's old enough to do it but that's only if he comes to me asking for one!!
