Hi,

I just wondered if I could ask your opinions. Evie is a week old now and when changing her nappy earlier there was a glob of discharge like stuff coming out of her. Is this normal? I know it is probably something to do with hormones etc. please can someone help put my mind at rest.
Thanks

I think it is normal in newborn Girls as I know some can experience blood in their nappies too but as with anything if you're worried hun then mention it to your MW or HV

Mention it to the MW but I'm sure its normal. Phoebe had a 'mini period' and boobs for almost 3 weeks! All due to hormones

A mucusy blob - like snot? If so, DD had that. I asked the midwife and she said it was normal

Connie had this and blood, like a mini period. It's just the mother's hormones settling down in the baby. That's why Flod had bad acne too :rotfl:

i was told to expect this esp while breastfeeding due to some of mothers hormones crossing over to the baby. she said not to clean it out too much, and it will clear up on its own.

Hi hun,

Yes this is normal.
I had the same concerns and asked my midwife who told me all was fine.

lyla has had this on and off its nothing to be worried about hun x

My Phoebe had this too. And a little blood.

It's quite common although no one had told me so I did panic at 3am in the morning!
